5 Underwhelming Features of the HP Veer 4G WebOS Smartphone
Why the HP Veer 4G Smartphone is Not a Good Buy
The HP Veer is a compact budget smartphone running on WebOS and specializing in form factor, multitasking, and its price point, but the poor features of the HP Veer 4G far outweighs its selling points.
Size
The HP Veer 4G was designed to be compact and stylish, but the tiny form factor of the HP Veer 4G presents more problems than it solves. In theory, this WebOS smartphone was designed to easily fit in your pocket and be less clunky than most smartphones, but the small screen of the HP Veer 4G leaves a lot to be desired and trying to text or type on this smartphone is a pain in the knack.
Slow Connectivity
The HP Veer 4G sounds like a smartphone that puts a strong emphasis on network speeds (it has 4G in the title), but it proves to be very slow when connecting to AT&T's network. Lots of computer assume that all 4G speeds are fast, but AT&T's 4G data speeds are slow and hinders the networking experience of the HP Veer 4G WebOS smartphone.
Camera Quality
With most modern cameras taking advantage of 8-12 megapixel cameras, the 5 megapixel camera of the HP Veer 4G isn't horrible, but isn't great either. Not only does the Veer 4G have a paltry 5 megapixel camera, but its front camera lacks a shutter and there is no front-facing camera support. With an HD video camera being one of the main features smartphone shoppers check for, the lacking camera of the HP Veer 4G might make consumers check for better alternatives.
Battery
Regardless of how great a smartphone is, battery life will be of the utmost importance and even the best smartphone will suffer greatly if it has short battery life. The 910 mAh battery life of the HP Veer 4G leaves a lot to be desired and only supports up to 300 minutes (5 hours) of talking time before it needs a full recharge.
Proprietary Headphones
Sometimes it's the little things that mean the most and the proprietary headphones of the HP Veer 4G is one of its most complained about features. With most modern cell phones taking the role of entertainment devices, headphones are important '" although they are usually taken for granted. The HP Veer 4G doesn't use a standard headphone jack and requires a weird proprietary jack to be able to use headphones with this smartphone.
