5 Unique Gifts Kids Can Give Mom for Mother's Day

Or Anyone Can Give These Useful Gifts

JUNEANN REED
Unique gifts given by our kids on Mother's Day can include most anything. Moms love everything - whether it be a bunch of be-draggled dandelions clutched in the fist of our two-year old, a project the kids worked diligently to make, or something simple from the store. Just being kind on that day, even if you are unable to give her a gift, will be one of the best, unique and special gifts she'll always remember.

The following five unique Mother's Day suggestions will be purchased from the store. Included will be suggestions on where to purchase them. Needless to say, she'll think of you as she uses your unique and special gifts.

1. Beautiful scented soaps
Mom could use that lovely bar of soap for her bath or she could tuck it in her lingerie drawer. You can find designer soaps with floral imprints in a variety of good smelling choices. Lavender is always a favorite, as it's relaxing and quieting. But you'll find citrus and many other choices your mother may prefer.

Great and inexpensive choices of soaps can be found at Marshall's or Tuesday Morning. Often they are already boxed for gift-giving.

2. Small plastic cutting board with shaped handle
This may sound like a silly gift, but I received one and love it. Everyone who's seen it always wants one also. The board is white plastic with a black handle and measures about 10X5. It's easily stored, is very light weight, saves your counter top, and travels well. We take it along to football games and to hotels etc. as you're assured of a clean cutting surface.

This unique cutting board can be purchased at Bed, Bath & Beyond. Often you can find coupons, so that could make this choice quite inexpensive. Mom will love it and use it often!

3. Pretty or funky robe
Most moms never buy a robe for themselves. Either theirs is ratty or they wear an old t-shirt. Maybe you think your mom would love something soft and pretty. Or maybe she's the more funky type who'd love a fun robe or cover-up.

Elegant or cute, you should be able to find a robe for your mom at JCPenny, your Hanes Outlet store or other department store or Target. Choose your own great gift wrap and card and your mom will be honored to receive such a great Mother's Day gift.

4. Unique bag
Yes, a plastic bag or that bag with the torn handle will work. But,we all know that neat bags and moms just sort of go together. Maybe it's because we're always carrying so much stuff with us. Or maybe we've always stored our craft supplies in an old boot box, even though we'd love to keep it in a big, fun bag. Look for a bag with a pocket or two, a color your mom loves and style appropriate to how she'll be using the bag. If she knits, you may want to look for a bag with a sewing type decor. If she will carry her workout clothes in it, maybe a bright colored, perhaps a geometric print would remind her it's time to head to the gym. Or maybe she has a favorite sports team.

Bags can be found in most any type of store, farmer's market, boutique, craft shop or book store. Try to find a unique style with a flat bottom that will easily hold her stuff.

5. Bracelet type clip watch
Clip watches come in a great variety of styles. Your mom would love clipping that special watch from you on her wrist. The watches are quite inexpensive and are fun to wear. They would also be a great gift for someone who has difficulty putting on a regular type watch. Maybe your mom would go for a very dressy bracelet type watch or perhaps she'd prefer a neon colored plastic band with designs. The selection will probably be enough for you to make a great choice. This type of watch mostly comes in one size, and is fun to wear. However, I've found that some clip together more tightly and would work better for small wrists.

You should be able to find a clip watch for your mom's Mother's Day gift at Kohl's or a fun boutique or gift store.

Enjoy shopping for your mom. Wrap up your gift to make it even more special. If possible, give it to her along with a special hug.
