EasyBloom Plant Sensor - $43.99 - Many mothers enjoy gardening, but it can be a little frustrating when a bunch of roses or azaleas don't turn out right. The EasyBloom plant sensor is one of the coolest tools designed to fix this problem. It's simply stuck into the ground before a planting season, where it takes temperature and soil readings. After a few days, it can be inserted into a computer's USB port for a full description of the soil and which plants will thrive in the area.
RITMO Prenatal Music System - $89.99 - They say that music helps a child's brain grow, and some scientists have even suggested that music can be beneficial to fetuses. This odd-looking strap system has speakers that project sound directly into a mother's stomach. It's like a high-end theater system, only for fetuses.
Why Cry Crying Baby Analyzer - $119.99 - Ever wonder why a baby is crying? This high-tech gizmo claims to be able to diagnose baby cries based on pitch. It can then give a readout so a new mother can fix whatever is troubling the kid. Now, if only they could make a version for teenagers.
Milkscreen - $14.99 - Some mothers need a good drink every now and then, but all moms are understandably concerned about passing alcohol to their babies via breast milk. Milkscreen is like a BAC detector for breast milk, and it's a must have gadget for mothers who want to enjoy a glass of wine or two during lactation. It could also lead to some of the most bizarre drinking games ever invented.
BabyPlus - $149.99 - This prenatal sound system builds on the promises of the RITMO system from earlier, but instead of music, it plays a number of sounds that are apparently scientifically formulated to improve cognitive development in unborn kids. According to their website, " The BabyPlus sonic pattern introduces your child to a sequential learning process, built upon the natural rhythms of their own environment."
Does it work? Well, the website features a number of quotes from doctors who support the science behind BabyPlus, as well as a gymnast for some reason. In any case, it's one of the most highly regarded--and expensive--prenatal sound systems on the market.
