5 Unique Valentine's Day Activities for Singles

Valentines Day Ideas for Singles

Gather up all your girlfriends, single work associates, and family and have a secret Santa like gift exchange with a valentine's day theme. You could trade over dinner or get together somewhere you all agree upon to exchange gifts. Keep a limit to $25 or so, and that way you won't be alone, you will receive a gift, and you won't blow your budget on Valentine's Day. Call it something like "Secret Admirers" and have one person organize mixing up and handing out name. If both men and women are involved who knows, maybe you could even meet someone?

Go on a singles trip. For example, Meet Market Travel is running a 7 day, 6 night ski trip from February 14-February 20 in Colorado. The trip includes 6 nights lodging, six hot breakfasts, a 4 day lift ticket, two group dinners, two happy hour parties, and a welcome reception and farewell party. They also offer a trip to Brazil for Carnival during the same time period, and conveniently Mardi Gras in New Orleans is right after Valentine's this year! Search the Internet for similar travel companies and deals in your nearby city or state.

Spend the day volunteering. Help out at a soup kitchen, volunteer to clean the cages at an animal shelter, or visit sick children at a hospital. How can you spend the day worrying about being alone when you feel so good about helping other people out? Even if you don't want to go out and do something formal you could even spend the day collecting and assembling care packages for soldiers or some other selfless act.

Go to the gun range. Rather then spending the day seething other your cheating ex that your anger out at the ranges. Unless you were raised hunting likely you have never picked up a gun, so it's a new skill and a way to blow off steam. Who knows when you may ever need to use one?

Pancakes! Treat yourself, skip your diet for the day, and indulge in some fluffy pancakes topped with butter and syrup. I recently read about a new restaurant in Hoboken, New Jersey, called Stacks, that serves pancakes in the shape of trains, mickey mouse ears, and multiple toppings. Rather than going to the spa and spending hundreds of dollars why not just relax and enjoy something really delicious and unhealthy like Ben and Jerry's or whatever your poison may be?

Singles Awareness Day (SAD) is a humorous holiday celebrated on February 14 (although some prefer the 13th or the 15th to get away from the commercialism associated with the 14th).
