What would a Christmas tree be without Christmas tree ornaments? I know the answer. It would be a regular tree (LOL). Okay, sorry about that. Just because I tormented you with that horrible 'joke', I will make it up to you. Let's think of a few Christmas tree ornament ideas, that can be implemented at home. Sounds good right? You get some pretty looking personalized homemade Christmas tree ornaments, and save money too. You could buy more gifts using the money you have saved, and may be send me a gift or two(LOL).

Here are just a few of those Christmas ornaments that you can make at home:

1. Get hold of Styrofoam balls and then, spray paint them with gold and/or silver color. You now have silver and golden balls that can be used as homemade Christmas tree ornaments. Use a piece of craft wire to make the hook at the top. Just bend this wire into a 'U' shape. Push the ends of the wire into the Styrofoam ball, so that there is enough room to hang them on the tree. It's as simple as that!

2. Let's take it a step further. If you want Styrofoam balls of other colors, here is what you do. Apply glue to the balls and roll them in glitter. You can use glitter of various colors to get different colored balls. A very simple way to make the most common Christmas ornament. Making the hook for these balls has already been explained in the previous step.

3.Make paper snowflakes and hang them on the tree using a piece of string. Do you know how to make a paper snowflake? If not, there is nothing to it really. Take a white piece of paper and cut a square from it. Fold this square into fourths. Now comes the fun part. Be creative and start cutting off corners, making notches and cuts, on the folded paper. Once you have had enough fun cutting that paper, just open it. You have your very own snowflake! Make several of these and hang them on the tree.

4. You can also use some pretty beads as Christmas tree ornament. All you need to do is get a packet of pretty looking beads, which can be found in any craft/hobby shop or even a supermarket. Then string them up using a clear string. Once you have a sufficiently large length of stringed beads, just tie the ends and cut the excess string. This again is a great Christmas tree ornament.

5. You can use beads of varying sizes to make icicles. Take a piece of fishing twine and then, place a drop of hot/craft glue at the end of the twine. Now slide the smallest bead, till it reaches the hot glue point and sticks. Allow this to set. Now apply hot glue on the twine just above this bead, and slide in the bead that is slightly larger than this. Do this with a few more beads. The idea is that, as you go up the twine, the size of the beads increases, and it looks like an icicle made of beads. Once you are almost at the top, place a drop of hot glue on the twine. Stick the open tip of the twine with the hot glue, so that a loop is formed. You can use this loop to hang these icicle Christmas ornaments.

These are just a few Christmas tree ornament making tips. If you apply your mind, there are several other DIY Christmasy things that you can come up with. Have a Merry Christmas.. Ho! Ho! Ho!
