However, in my research I found that because Godiva, like a few other Lush solid shampoos, does not lather as much as a regular shampoo (due to the lack of synthetic sulfates which some think can be cancer-causing), people disregard them saying they "don't work" or don't feel like they are getting their hair clean at all. Well, good news to you folks! Here are some other great things you can do with the beautifully scented Godiva shampoo bar.
1. Wash your hair. "Well duh, lady," I can hear you saying to me now. But bear with me! Unless you hate the smell or are one of the people who need their shampoo to lather, there is nothing better to do with this shampoo bar than to wash your hair. As a lady of mixed ethnicity, my hair has an interesting texture to say the least. After using this shampoo bar, my hair literally feels like silk to the touch and I can smell the flowery scent any time I move my head. If you aren't sure how you feel about possibly harmful sulfates or even if you are willing to try something more environmentally conscious than the standard bottled shampoo, I would certainly recommend this to anyone!
2. Use it as a room or car freshener. For bathrooms and bedrooms especially, the soft jasmine scent is absolutely perfect. If you don't like what Godiva does for your hair, set it elegantly on a doily or napkin in the room of your choosing and voila! A beautifully-scented room freshener that isn't too powerful, but provides just the right hint of jasmine when the air moves. What is great about Godiva is that it won't stain, and that the bars themselves are physically lovely; each is individually handcrafted so they are all slightly different. The bars vary from pale yellow to almost red, and setting it on a shelf or a desk will not detract one bit from your décor - rather, Godiva may even play it up! Another great place for Godiva is in your car. Feel free to pop it in the back window, CD-deck or armrest storage to freshen the scent of your car - this works great especially if you've just had fast food in your car. The smell of French fries and pizza is nice while you're craving it, but 3 days later it's a little funky. Godiva to the rescue!
3. Break it up and put it in your drawers. The drawers in your dresser, people, not the drawers covering your backside (but whatever moves you, I suppose)! If you've bought Godiva but don't like it for your hair or want to use it as an air freshener, there is another solution: Break it up or carefully cut it with a knife, wrap each of the pieces in a tissue, and place the wrapped pieces off to the side inside of your dresser drawers. This works beautifully for me, because while my dresser is quite a few years old now, I still get that "wood" smell in my clothes if they've been sitting in there a while. Not a necessarily bad scent, but I would love if my clothes held onto the scent of my dryer sheets that I washed them with instead. But, by adding the jasmine scented shampoo bar to the corners of my drawers, my clothes smell fresh every time! This is particularly nice for lingerie draws and pajama drawers.
4. Scent your bath water. Bath takers, this one is for you! If you want to really pamper yourself with a nice bath, light some candles, put on some music and drop this baby into your bath water. Lush uses essential oils to make their products, and Godiva is no different. Godiva is also made with cocoa butter, and so adding it to your bath will do wonders for your skin making it smooth and soft - not to mention, it will make you smell like a dream! Go ahead, get carried away and pamper yourself.
5. Cut into pieces using a knife and use for the four above purposes for the price of one! I can't speak for everybody, but in my opinion, spending a little over $9.00 USD for one item and getting 4 different uses out of it is a steal; a gloriously-scented, environmentally-friendly steal, at that.
Whether you are looking to try something new, or if you purchase Godiva, hate it, and don't know what the heck to do with it now, try some of these suggestions. Godiva may not be for everybody, but it is surely a wonderful product that can be useful on more than just your hair!
