Baby foot or hand paper weight
A margarine tub is great for making your own keepsake paperweights. Purchase some quick drying modeling clay in the color of your choice. Pt enough of the clay into the margarine tub to make a impression. Put some vegetable oil or petroleum jelly on your baby's foot or hand so the clay will not stick to it. Press firmly into the clay. Then let the clay dry. Once the clay has dried you can easily press the margarine tub to release the clay. You now have a beautiful keepsake paperweight. Use paints to put the date and the baby's name on the paperweight.
Food on the road for kiddies
If you are going to be on the road and you know you will need some food for the baby or toddler in your life. Margarine tubs are great. You will not have to worry about them breaking in the diaper bag and when the food is gone you can throw the container away.
Gelatin Molds
Instead of spending your hard earned money on gelatin molds use those margarine tubs that are crowding your cabinets. If you are wanting a large mold for parties and such then use a large margarine tub. If you just want to make something fun for the kids use the small tubs. You can use candies, gummies or mini marshmallows to put a face on top. Once the molds have set simply flex the bowls to easily release. If you have decorated with a face the face will show through the gelatin when the mold is turned upside down.
Traveling with your pet
Margarine bowls are also ideal for storing food and water for the pets when you are on the road. They can also eat out of them so you do not have to take separate eating containers with you.
Piggy Bank
Margarine tubs are great for making piggy banks for the kids. You can use paper, tinfoil, tape, paints markers or anything they want to decorate the tubs. Cut a slit in the top and presto the kiddies' can start saving.

Post a CommentI used to have a whole collection of Chiffon tubs that had no advertising on them. I use them to put under potted plants (if they have writing on them, I cover with contact, or even metallic paper. I have used them to make giant ice cubes to put in a cooler, but never thought of the mold idea. The most unusual thing I did with them was to punch holes around the top edge and crocheted pocketbooks for all my little nieces. One of them is 40 and still has hers!
My mom reusues these as well. Great ideas.
Hey, my mom believes in reusing these! She has taught me to save them for future food storage containers, water bowls and various other uses. Great article. I enjoyed.
:-)
Cool ideas!
