Painting drop Cloth ~
Old shower curtains, because they are waterproof, can be used to protect your floors or carpets if you ever repaint the walls or ceilings of your home. There is no point in paying for expensive drop cloths to paint with when you have your handy old shower curtain. Allow any paint spills to dry completely on it before folding it up and you will be able to use it over and over again as a drop cloth.
Art Area ~
You can use your old shower curtain to protect the floor underneath the area your children use for arts and crafts. Not only will stop any wet spills from going through to your floors, it can also make cleaning up small loose items, such as glitter, much easier. Simply fold the cloth in half so that everything goes towards the middle, and then tilt it to allow any spilled leftovers to drain off into a container.
Haircut Mat ~
If you cut your families hair at home, you have surely noticed that the bits of cut hair tend to go all over the floor. If you spread an old shower curtain on your floor first, and then set the chair in the center of it, all the loose hair will fall onto the shower curtain. When you are finished, remove the person and the chair, fold the corners of the shower curtains towards the middle, and carry it outside to release it onto the grass. The organic hair clippings will act as mulch and biodegrade naturally.
Car Top Tarp ~
The next time you go on a family trip and find that you need to pile luggage, sleeping bags, or other baggage on top of the car to save space. Use your old shower curtain as a tarp to cover up your belongings. This will protect them from rain and loose objects on the highway hitting them.
Firewood Cover ~
If you keep cut firewood on your property for a wood burning stove or for camp fires, you can keep your wood dry by covering it with an old shower curtain. Tuck the corners under at the bottom to keep animals from nesting in your wood during the off season.
All of these uses and more can be had for your old shower curtain. Keep it in mind the next time you redo your bathroom.
