5 Vampire Movies to See This October

When the Moonlight is Shining and the Wind is Howling, a Vampire Film Hits the Spot

Linda StCyr
October is a month of many pleasures. Halloween, Fall Festivals and Fall Foliage excursions are underway. But at night, when the moon is shining and the wind is howling, it's time to wrap up in a warm blanket, turn down the lights and put on a movie. There is nothing better than a vampire movie in the month of October. Here are some movies worth checking out:

The Lost Boys-

This is a classic vampire cult film. Kiefer Sutherland, Corey Haim, Corey Feldman and Jason Patric star in this vampire story about two brothers who find the new town they are living in to be plagued with vampires. One of the brothers accidently drinks the blood from a vampire believing it to be wine. When he starts to change his brother decides to take matters into his own hands.

John Carpenter's Vampires-

This is not your classical romantic vampire story. It is pure action, revenge and gore. James Woods plays Jack Crow a vengeful vampire slayer who needs to find an ancient Catholic relic. Not only is Crow searching for it but so are many vampires who could use it to endure sunlight. Daniel Baldwin, Sheryl Lee and Thomas Ian Griffith also star in this adventurous vampire movie.

Shadow of the Vampire-

John Malkovich, Willem Dafoe, Udo Kier and Cary Elwes star in this vampire story about the making of the film; Nosferatu. This vampire movie delves into the legends surrounding the actual making of the movie, Nosferatu, in the early '20s. Legends claim that crew members died or disappeared while other strange happenings occurred. Speculation arose about the main star of Nosferatu, was he so good because he really was a vampire?

Queen of the Damned-

This notable movie is only worth seeing only if you have not read any of Anne Rice's novels or can separate the movie and the books. The music in Queen of the Damned was written and produced by bands like Korn and Disturbed. Stuart Townsend, Vincent Perez, Marguerite Moreau and Aaliyah (RIP) all had roles in this vampire film. Stuart Townsend portrays Lestat de Lioncourt who wants to be silent no more on what and who he is. A web is tangled when Jesse (Marguerite Moreau) of the Talamasca crosses paths with Lestat.

Interview with the Vampire-

Based on the novel by Anne Rice, Interview with the Vampire is one of the best, blood chilling vampire movies ever made. Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt play the two legendary vampires from The Vampire Chronicles, Lestat de Lioncourt and Louis de Pointe du Lac. The story is from Louis' perspective as he is interviewed by Daniel Malloy (Christian Slater). There are many twists, turns and adventures in this vampire movie. It is also worth seeing Antonio Banderas who plays Armand.
