5 Video Games with the Best Replay Value

With These Games, You Just Keep on Coming Back for More...

When game developers design games with replay value it can be a great sigh of relief to many gamers. There are many gamers who know exactly what games they love and want to be able to spend as much time as possible on these games. Nothing accomplishes this better than games with high replay value. Whether they involve endless possibilities for fun, alternate endings, or game-plus modes, games with high replay value definitely give you that bang for your buck.

1. Perfect Dark (N64)

This 90s Nintendo 64 hit was basically an upgraded version of the popular first person shooter, Goldeneye 007. In this game you play as Joanna Dark, a secret agent in the near future who goes through a series of missions eventually leading her to discovering that the bad guys are aliens. At the end of the game, a new version of the game opens up which allows you to play each level as one of the villains, "Mr. Blonde." Besides these extra goodies, the multiplayer of this game is astoundingly complex and makes for nearly endless joy for you and your friends.

2. Disgaea: Hour of Darkness (Playstation 2)

This tactical RPG for the Playstation 2 was one of the firsts in a number of replay value innovations. They raised the level cap from the classic level 99 to the unreachable 9999. This innovation, combined with a game-plus mode that allows you to start a new game with your equipment and levels from the old game still in your possession, has allowed players to beat the game many times over fighting more powerful enemies each time. One can beat the game the first time with a level of 70 or 80, but as you go through over and over you unlock secret levels with enemies that may be level 200 or 500. Disgaea is also highly customizable, which keeps the game interesting through these multiple playings.

3. Halo 2 (Xbox)

Halo games are fantastic enough for long hours of gameplay because of their great multiplayer mode, but Halo 2 also includes the innovation of ridiculously challenging difficulty settings. Legendary, the most difficult, has become just what the name suggests for its over-the-top level of challenge. There is also plenty of hidden content and easter eggs within the game designed to keep the players interested for as long as humanly possible.

4. Pokémon Series (Multiple Platforms)

Pokémon was one of the first games that caught on to mainstream audiences that played with the idea of an enormously customizable video game. Because there are many Pokémon to choose from to add to your group, the game can literally be played tens of times over without the gamer experiencing every one fully. Developers of this game quickly caught onto this concept and released what was essentially the same game many times over. Because of its impressive level of replayability, however, gamers didn't complain abou this rehashing of storyline and setting.

5. Star Fox 64 (Nintendo 64)

This popular space shooting game for the Nintendo 64 introduced a generation of gamers to the idea of playing the same game over and over again in pursuit of multiple endings. In the game, fulfilling specific things during missions will determine the path that you take. Which path you take determines which enemies you will fight along the way including how the final boss fight will be. Though a single playthrough of the game can be done in one very dedicated sitting, this game can equal up to many hours of fun because of this multiple ending/decision based style of play.
