Video Games You Love, and I Can't Stand, Modern Warfare 2 - 360 - PC - PS3
Gamespot gives this game a rating of 9.0 which IMO is giving this game way too much credit, I mean come on, this is just another war game from a long line of war games. Modern Warfare 2 is nothing original, to it's credit it lets you shoot through walls and while not incredibly ingenious, shooting through walls is a relatively new concept.
I would have given this game a rating of 1 for no originality, but then again why not just publish what works. The masses have become addicted to FPS games, so why not give it to them?

The graphics on this game look great, but lets be realistic. Gears of War is just another shooter. While some of the new ideas that present themselves in this game are, cover, team play, and a 3rd person perspective, the same old shooter flaws apply. Gears of War has a lack of an involving story line, and a pure disregard for original content.

F.E.A.R. is yet another first person shooter, the games idea is basically a rip off of resident evil. F.E.A.R. takes a blend of FPS shooter and combines it with a horror element, well isn't that just fantastic. The problem with F.E.A.R. is the game isn't even scary, I've seen C horror movies that made me jump more then this game, and that was in a well lit room.

As with all doom games this is yet another FPS, and as usual this one doesn't even try to captivate you with a story line and plot. What Doom 3 does do is shove a big gun in your hand, and send you out after a hord of devil spawn. There are a few cut scenes here and there, and there is some story to it, but it's mostly save your marine buddy or die trying.

Seriously, was this game ever intended to meet the modern demographic? or was it just directed at the pre pubecent teen girl... Little Big Planet is cute and makes you feel all fuzzy inside, but in all reality it's the most pointless, sorry excuse for a game I've ever seen. Which leads me to the question why even make such an awful game?

The very idea that so many of these horrid games even get published sickens me. I would like to see some originality in this gaming age, somthing new and original. Here is an idea, why not create something that isn't another FPS? Some of the best games I've played never got a decent publisher, and if you asked me Indie gaming is the way to go, if you want to see some original and unique games.

Post a CommentDid you just go find a list of some of the top games and then decide they weren't any good? So what if a game isn't "original". It's the same thing with movies, there are really only a few different types of movies just there are really only a few types of games. You've got your fps, platformer, 3rd person action, etc. Just because something doesn't invent a new type of gameplay doesn't mean its bad. There are lots of games that are similar to other ones and are still good. Your opinion is your opinion though.
LBP wasn't really intended to be clumped in as unoriginal that's just how it came off... While it is original, it just doesn't hit the spot for me at all, nor anyone else I have met. The exception to that being my sister, who simply loves anything 'Cute'.
And as the title states you love them, I hate them :P it's simply an opinion piece for the most part, a description of why I can not stand to play any of these games. There will always be some who can't stand the 'popular' games.

Yeah, LPB sucked. That's why it's praised as the most original, innovative, user-centric title to ever grace consoles, existing in its very own genre. I mean, it totally failed at meeting the demographic, despite forming a community millions of members strong which has lead to the generation of more than 2,000,000 user-created levels, as well as the production of a highly-anticipated sequel already being pipped for Game of the Year.

COD was one of the very first games to incorporate shooting through walls. It was not released back in 2,000 and it's only 2010, so I fail to see how you could have been doing it, short of a glitch in the game prior to a decade ago, or even close to a decade ago. The concept was presented only within the last 5 years, and many prominent first person shooters have still not incorporated it.

Ok, I agree that MW2 is a glitchy, laggy, unoriginal generic piece of trash but what you said there I cannot agree with. How is shooting through walls a relatively new concept? Relative to what? The wheel? I've been shooting through walls, and completely demolishing walls on PC shooters for nearly a decade now. And you can only shoot through walls with a certain thickness in MW2, the rest of the time you kill someone behind a wall it's pure lag.
In crysis I could literally demolish a building, killing everyone inside it then jump over the rubble and shoot the people on the other side.

I see you're focusing on the single player and the story. Playing games for the story is like eating soup for the spoon. Focus on gameplay and all the game modes. I say this because you didn't mention how laggy, and how crappy their gameplay design is in their multiplayer modes.
