If you do not want to advertise your t-back or go commando, there are many options for preventing the dreaded VPL without sacrificing comfort.
Shapewear
Try wearing shapewear, such as Spanx, in longer styles that end around the thigh or calf area to avoid panty lines. L'eggs shapewear is available in many stores, including Walgreens, and costs less than $10.
Tangas
With their cheeky cut, tangas skim the body and provide more coverage than thongs without creating panty lines. When shopping for tangas choose smooth material and pay attention to the back seams. Avoid tangas that have a center band across back because those can show through clothes.
No-Show Panties
Some manufacturers offer panties with thinner bands and seams for a smooth appearance that does not show through clothes. These panties come in a variety of styles and coverage options. Soma's Vanishing Edge panties cost approximately $15 and frequently go on sale.
Hosiery
Basic pantyhose are affordable and available at many stores, including grocery stores. Control tops offer more support and a slimming effect, but it is important to choose the right size so the darker support panels do not show under shorter skirts and dresses.
Upgrade Your Undies
Like an ill-fitting bra, the wrong undies can bunch or cut into skin creating an attention-grabbing scene across your rear. Choosing the right undies will help prevent panty lines under thicker garments.
Choose panties that stay in place, such as Warner's No Pinching. No Problems. or Hanes No Ride-Up. As with some strapless bras, some brands include a thin silicone band that helps hold the edges in place.
If panties appear to cut into your body and create a double butt, consider choosing a different cut, such as a brief, or try a larger size.
Do Visible Panty Lines Matter?
In everyday life, worrying about VPL probably is not a priority for most women, but it is nice to have options for creating a smooth silhouette for special outfits.
