5 Ways to Buy New York Yankee Tickets

Anthony M.
Yankee tickets have always been notoriously hard to come by. Combine that with this being their last season in Yankee Stadium, and this year can be hell for people wanting to see the hallowed grounds one last time. But true New Yorkers know that if you look in the right places, anything can be found. As a die-hard Yankee fan, I've spent years searching for the best places to get tickets at a reasonable price, legally. Here are a few places I visit when I need tickets to a game.

Yankees.com or TicketMaster

I figured I'd start off this article with some of the more conventional methods of getting tickets. If you want to buy official tickets at official face value, then Yankees.com or TicketMaster are the places to go. These are the two official online retailers of Yankee tickets and the cheapest places you will find real tickets. However, due to this being the last year in Yankee Stadium, tickets are even harder to come by then usual. Games against teams like the Mets and Red Sox have long been sold out, but you can still find some upper deck seats for the less popular teams. Just don't expect to get anywhere close to the field. And if you do, get ready to crack open the wallet.

Yankee Stadium Box Office on Gameday

Not many people know this, but the Yankee Stadium Box Office always releases additional tickets the same day as the game. These tickets are usually in the bleachers or upper deck, and they cost a bit more than of you were to buy them in advance. But if the game is sold out, you don't really have a choice, do you? This method is great for last minute buys and for games that would normally have no tickets available online. Just make sure you get in line outside the stadium extra early for these.

StubHub.com

Quickly becoming the place to go for events that are sold out, StubHub is your third best bet in scoring legal Yankee tickets. Not only can you get tickets for games in advance, but you can even get tickets for any game that has been sold out, which for the Yankees, is a lot. New York fans tend to receive more important engagements, and put their tickets up for sale. Because of this, StubHub will have a seat in almost every section available for any New York Yankee game. Just remember that this is a public hub, so the higher the demand, the bigger the price. You can get any Yankee ticket you want from there, as long as you are willing to pay a nice fee.

Ebay.com

When looking for tickets, many people tend to overlook the nations most popular auction site, eBay. Much like StubHub, you will probably find a ticket in any section of Yankee Stadium on eBay. If you are clever, you can even score them for a relatively cheap price. Its all about how many people want the tickets, and how much they are willing to pay. A little patience can score you some nice tickets for a close-to-face value here. Just keep that Bid button on standby!

Season Ticket Holders

With a city as large as New York, you are bound to either know someone directly, or know a friend of a cousin of an aunt of a grandpa who has season tickets. This is probably the best chance you'll get at buying Yankee tickets for face value if you couldn't do so from their official sites. Just ask around a little and you're sure to find a friend who knows someone with season tickets. These people can't possibly make it to every game, so they are sure to be able to sell one to you. If you're really good friends, maybe you can even get them for free. Now THAT's a Home Run!

Scoring Yankee tickets that won't send you straight into bankruptcy this year can be a little hard and frustrating. But with a little patience, and a lot of desire, you are sure to see The House that Ruth Built one last time.
