Tasty Ideas for Consuming Grapes

Britt Baker
Both tart and sweet, grapes are many people's favorite fruit, and a good choice for anyone to eat, as well. Grapes are rich in a number of nutrients, including manganese, vitamin C, vitamin B1, potassium, and vitamin B6. So, the next time you're in the mood for some delicious, nutritious grapes, try out on of these 5 delectable ways to eat grapes:

Grape Jam, Jelly, or Preserves. As many people's favorite variety of jelly, grapes, most often concord grapes, make delicious jelly, jam, or preserves. While you can easily find these products in your local grocery store or supermarket, it's also easy to make them at home, as well. Grape spreads can be used on anything from toast or muffins, crackers or wafers, pancakes or cookies, or even swirled into a bowl of warm oatmeal or a cup of plain yogurt. Get creative with these ways to eat grapes.

Grape Juice. Grape juice is a favorite of many children and adults alike, and thus one of the tastiest ways to eat (or drink) grapes. When choosing a grape juice from the food store, you want to look for one that is made entirely from fresh grapes (red or white - doesn't matter), and doesn't contain any additional sweeteners, as grape juice is very sweet on it's own. Even better yet, an even more healthy choice is to pick an organic variety of 100% pure grape juice.

Raisins. Raisins are an easy, inexpensive, and healthy snack for people of all ages. You can eat raisins by themselves, mix them into granola or trail mix, top your cereal or oatmeal with them, or eat them in numerous other ways. One of my favorites is the "ants on a log" snack which consists of pieces of fresh celery topped with some all natural peanut butter and then some raisins pushed into the peanut butter. It's healthy, delicious, and has a cute name, too.

Grape Salad. There are so many - really an innumerable amount of - ways to make grape salad. You can choose to make a fruit salad with a few varieties of grapes, make a fresh greens salad with grapes in the mixture along with other fruits, vegetables, nuts, cheeses, dressing, and so forth, or make a grain based salad, using quinoa, couscous, wild rice, or whatever else you prefer. You can mix, match, and create many of your own recipes with this awesome way to eat grapes.

Grape Wine. Grape wine is one of the healthiest choices when it comes to alcoholic beverages (as long as you don't overdo it, of course). Some popular varieties of white grape wine to try are Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chardonnay, and some popular varieties of red grape wine to try are Pinot Noir, Syrah or Shiraz, and Merlot.

Enjoy consuming healthy red and white grapes in all of these delicious ways, and try to find more of your own creative ways to eat this scrumptious fruit!
