Hydrating and rich in antioxidants and nutrients, watermelon is one of the most popular fruits of the summer months, yet these recipes will have you enjoying the fruit all year round. Whether as part of a main dish, a side dish, an appetizer, a drink, or a dessert, these 5 ways to eat watermelons will have you getting creative with this healthy fruit. Loaded with vitamins C, A, B6, and B1, watermelon can be a surprising ingredient in a number of delicious dishes. Here are 5 unique ways to eat watermelon:

1. Watermelon Salsa. Watermelon, with its mild flavor, is a tasty, sweet ingredient excellent for adding to salsa. It goes especially well with corn, and it combines well with other fruit ingredients, too. Some of the ways to eat watermelon in a salsa are by combining it with similarly textured fruits (like honeydew, cantaloupe, and of course salsa's mainstay - tomatoes). Enjoy watermelon salsa on homemade tortilla chips or atop a bed of healthy, baby greens.

2. Watermelon Dippers. Fruit dippers are an awesomely sweet summertime snack. They are easy to make and serve, and there are a number of different ways to eat watermelon as dippers. You can either cube or ball the watermelon and serve it - along with other fruits - with a variety of dipping sauces, including a creamy yogurt sauce or a delectable chocolate sauce.

3. Watermelon Ice Cubes. Adding watermelon to your favorite summertime drink, whether iced tea, lemonade, or your favorite juice, is an awesome way to eat watermelon during the hottest months of the year. You can either make watermelon juice and pour it into your ice cube tray to make the cubes or you can simply freeze watermelon balls or cubes and then add those to your drink. Watermelon ice cubes are also quite scrumptious when added to your favorite fruity cocktail.

4. Watermelon Salad. Watermelon salad is one of the most versatile ways to eat watermelon. The melon accompanies a variety of ingredients quite well including red, Vidalia, or other sweet onions, feta or goat cheese, balsamic or red wine vinaigrette, lime or lemon juice, and mint, cilantro, or parsley. You can choose any of these ingredients, or add some others you think would taste great, and either serve the salad alone or on top of a bed of fresh greens.

5. Watermelon Soup. A chilled watermelon soup is easy to create and quite delicious to consume. As one of the less thought of ways to eat watermelon, a soup of watermelon, lemon or lime juice, and even a touch of vanilla, will make a mouthwatering dish for you and your family or guests.
