Tell Her It Isn't Her Fault How She Dressed
Tell her that nothing that she did caused her to be raped including the clothes that she had on. She may have confided in a friend that blamed her for the way that she dressed. She may be afraid to tell anyone because she doesn't want people to look down upon her as something that she isn't. She may be afraid that her own parents won't believe her. She may believe that nobody will understand her. Tell her that men just use a cop out excuse when they say that a woman asked for it by the way she was dressed.
Discourage Her From Taking A Shower
A victim of rape is never suppose to take a shower. Encourage her to go to the hospital to get a rape exam done on her immediately. Tell her that if she doesn't feel like talking to the police about it is fine. The secret here is that as soon as she walks into the hospital asking for a rape exam to be done then the police will automatically be notified since she is a juvenile. Its a tactic back her behind, but she will thank you for protecting her later on in life so don't feel bad.
Ask Her If You Can Keep Her Clothes
Turn her clothes over to the police immediately. You can do this at the hospital, too. The clothes will speak for themselves that forces her to tell the truth nobody how uncomfortable she gets talking about it. You have to realize that you are saving this girls life by helping her get out of dangerous situations immediately. Tactics like this make it easier to put the bad guy in jail without her really knowing it until its too late with court proceedings. Its for her own good that you make her talk about the horrible things that he did to her. She may be mad. Tell her that you are saving her life by putting the bad guy in jail. Tell her that abuse is never acceptable no matter what kind it is.
Talk To The Police Immediately About The Rape
You talk to the police about the incident. Ask the police to call her parents if she can't bring herself to tell them what happened. You might realize that you can't bring yourself to call them due to being in shock. You make sure that an investigation is open. The police will talk to her immediately. Turn the clothes over to the police officer. Tell them anything that she already tell you regarding what happened. They will further question her with a police officer and social worker present. Her parents will be notified even if you are a family member. They will require her parents to be there during video interview unless they give you permission to be there. You want to put her in a situation where she is forced to talk about the rape by the evidence submitted such as the clothes, rape exam, and hospital records.
Prepare Her For Court
A teenage girl may not be prepared for court proceedings. She may not even know what goes on in court. Tell her that the court makes it so that he can't hurt anyone else ever again the same way that he did towards her. Tell her that the court system is making him pay for the damage that he done. Tell her that the court system is making it so that he can't destroy another persons life due to emotional trauma. The defendant will either plea not guilty or guilty. If he pleas not guilty than the defendant will go to court again that will require her and others to testify against him. He will be found guilty in most cases. Defendants like him often use every right just because they want to make the victims life as difficult as possible.
I've seen cases delayed for months and months due to the person not having legal team. Sometimes as a last resort attempt the defendant will fire their legal team and delay it again to find a new legal team. Defendants often put the victim through cross examination as a torture method to constantly remind her of what he did. He sits there not feeling remorse about his actions whatsoever. Someone that feels true remorse will often plead guilty and acknowledge to the victim that he is one hundred percent responsible for his actions.
