Send Another Article
Try again as many times as it takes in order to succeed at getting accepted. Any editor that recognizes your name from all the submissions will know how determined you are to be accepted. The one article may not have been a perfect fit, but perhaps another article is perfect. Send them several articles on spec that fit the editorial calendar.
Ask Why You Got Rejected
Make sure to always ask why in order to help you improve in writing. The rejection letter usually tells you why you were rejected. Some cases there is no reason stated for the rejection. Any editor that doesn't give you a reason isn't worth your time in most cases.
Don't Let it Consume You
Several writers that have been rejected have nearly torn their house apart wondering why. Some of them feel that they aren't good enough. Some of them feel that the perfect piece that they spent so much time should have been accepted at the perfect magazine. I've seen people literally throw out work by shreds. The frustration is overwhelming at times.
Limit Yourself
Rejection is something that every person needs to learn how to properly handle. If you can't stand several rejections in a row then limit yourself so you don't lose your mind. Some people relate rejection of work as a rejection of one self which isn't the case. A rejection of work is not a rejection of yourself.
Throw Out Every Rejection
Simply take out the pile of rejections in the trash. You don't need negative feedback all around you. Negative things does nothing for someone that needs positive around them. Rejections can damage a self esteem of someone that already has a low self esteem even further.
