5 Ways on How to Help Eliminate Violence Against Women

Michelle Knudson
We can only help stop eliminate violence against women when all victims break the silence. Silence and excuses are the abusers favorite thing that they make the victims use in order to keep the violence going. Here are five ways on how to help eliminate violence against women.

Report Every Incident

You are able to report every incident of abuse that you see or hear. You have the right to file a police report against the abuser even if the victim won't do it. You have the right to have the abuser arrested if the victim doesn't want him to be. You are required by law to report abuse that you see or hear since you can be given a ticket if you do nothing about it when you standing right there. You could save the life of another woman when you report incidents that you see out on the street as well from strangers.

Offer To Help The Victim

Sometimes all it takes to get a victim to leave an abusive person is someone to help them. A victim needs to know that someone understands what she is going through whether she admits it or not. Tell her what you suspect which she can confirm or deny. Inform them of the nearest women's shelter. If you know the victim very well then perhaps she can stay with you for a few nights.

Obtain A Free Attorney For Local Women's Shelter

Several lawyers help abuse victims that enter into a women's shelter. Perhaps if a friend is an Attorney then he or she could help victims obtain a divorce or protective orders against the abuser. Several women need an attorney to help them through the court process since it is difficult in some situations.

Stop Excuses

Inform women that each time that she makes up excuses for the abuser to justify the abuse that the end result is only going to enable it to happen further. Excuses are what the abuser relies on the victim to eventually do since the abuser just keeps getting worse and worse to the point that lying for him becomes automatic.

Offer to Store Her Stuff At Your House

Let her know that you are there for her if she needs to store of her stuff at your place. You want her to know that she a place to move her stuff into when she plans to escape the abusive situation. She might want to keep an emergency bag packed with her stuff in it such as a few pairs of clothes and copies of important documents. Make sure that she has extra sets of keys to things such as deposit boxes and car keys.

Women sometimes just need a way out shown to them. They just need to know that it is possible to escape, but she needs to be careful in the process. She is free after she successfully escapes her abuser in every way possible. Donations to local women's shelters can help them out a great deal.
