The good news is that there are some things that we can do to ensure a healthy mouth for our dogs and improve their quality of life. Most things we can do for them are simple and easy, not taking much time or effort.
Here are the top 5 things we can do to offer better dental care to our furry friends:
1. Some edible treats can clean the dog's teeth, freshen their breath, and give them a yummy treat all in one! How simple is that? Your furry friend gets a treat and better dental health. Sounds like a win-win situation to me.
2. Look for chew ropes that contain baking soda and fluoride to freshen breath and clean teeth. These ropes even contain special fibers to floss your dog's teeth while they chew!
3. Controlling the PH level of your dogs saliva can help control the tartar on their teeth. Products like this one can be added regularly to your dog's drinking water for the desired results. This is effective and simple.
4. Wipe your dog's teeth and gums with dental care wipes for a relaxing massage while you remove plaque and tartar efficiently.
5. Brush your dog's teeth regularly. Toothbrushes and toothpaste made especially for dogs are available for purchase at many stores. Choose toothpaste with a flavor that you believe your dog will like.
It is recommended that you brush your dog's teeth daily for best results. The other products listed above are to be used in addition to regular brushing. Dental care for your dog does not have to be unpleasant or feel like a chore. If you have not established a routine for your dog it may take some time for them to get comfortable with the thought of dental hygiene. But once they have become accustomed to this act they will feel better, enjoy this time with you, and you will love their kisses even more!!
Happy brushing!!
