You've seen or owned a stereo equalizer, right? That's her body, mind and feelings going through changes. They're all over the place and your seemingly carefree attitude could become a bit of an annoyance to her. Though sleeping with one eye open might be wise, learn to counter her fatigue with understanding and kindness. During the third trimester she may begin to feel insecure, so try not to leave her alone.
Paying attention to her senses could give you a clue on how to stay in her good graces or stay out of her way. Here's how.
Smell.
She doesn't like the way anything smells - until she tells you that she likes it. Don't test her. Your after-shave, cologne, shower gel, shrimp fried rice and the perfume worn by other women stinks! Of course you're a guy that likes to keep himself clean, but don't be surprised if she likes your all day smell after a hard day's work. Go figure.
Hearing.
She hears you. She's oftentimes preoccupied in thought about who her baby is going to look like - you or her? Her hearing is just fine. Didn't she hear you knick yourself shaving when she was all the way downstairs? She heard you say "s%@#!" Then when you give her that morning hug she'll say "did you cut yourself shaving honey?" If you do a little pouting and put your head on her chest, that will put a big smile on her face.
Touch.
If you don't want to experience a violent reaction, don't touch her in the middle of the night if she has pulled the covers off. Trust me - you'll get your feelings hurt. She's always hot even though it's 40 degrees. Then she'll turn on the ceiling fan, have the covers pulled all the way over her ears, but she's (loco) hot! The tossing and turning will go on practically all night, but later she'll roll over and snuggle. Should she wake up with a stuffy nose, make her a cup of hot tea.
Taste.
She'll have a series of food addictions. Your place is not to predict or debate the cravings, just satisfy them when they raise their ugly head. Things like sautéed spinach with Skittles on the side may sound crazy, but that's the kind of stuff that goes on with the little mommy sometimes. Make her a pledge to get whatever she craves, at any time. Mean it and do it. It should make you happy to see her happy.
Sight.
She can see that she's driving you crazy, so just suck it up and be glad that she's carrying your seed. She also sees what a great looking guy she found in you and hopes the baby looks just like you. Keep yourself looking the way that she likes to see you look.
Bonus tip.
Treat her well around family and friends and in public. That pretty much translates to all of the time. That glow should never be extinguished. And, don't be ashamed to show her love in front of the fellas either. If you don't, that one eye open while sleeping could turn to two.
Here's to a healthy baby and mommy - Congrats!
