1. Interview with the vampire

Plot Summary: Vampire Louis tells his story to Daniel. He tells of losing his brother, then becoming suicidal but instead a vampire (Lestat) turns him into the undead. The book also talks about how he lost the only person, he really ever loved Claudia. This novel takes place in New Orleans and Paris. Louis is probably the weakest and depressed character Anne Rice made.
2. The Vampire Lestat

Plot Summary: Lestat writes his story about his life in the French revolution, becoming a vampire from Magnus, and his misadventures with other vampires and humans. It is a great historical and modern times vampire story. Lestat is the most popular of her characters, he is charismatic and well his name is "Prince Brat."
3. Queen of the Damned

Plot Summary: Tells the story of how Lestat becomes a rock star, Akasha queen of all vampires comes to destroy the world, and the vampires must band together to stop her. In addition, the book tells about the red haired twins and the Talamasca.
4. The Vampire Armand

Plot Summary: Armand tells his story to David, tells about him being a boy in Kiev, sold into sex slavery, meets Marius and learns from him at his school in Italy. Also tells about his dark past, where he was in the Paris and Roman coven.
5. Blood and Gold

Plot Summary: Marius, the ancient vampire of the chronicles tells his story to Throne a wary traveler. He tells about the Roman times were he first becomes a vampire and gets the job to protect the queen and king. Also tells about how he found Armand and lost him, and his hatred for Santino.
6. Blackwood Farm

Plot Summary: Quinn Blackwood calls on Lestat for help to get rid of his doppelganger that hurts and ruins his life. Lestat comes to his aid, but first Quinn tells his story. He tells about him living in the dank Sugar Devil Swamp, his mother who never loved him and his love with Mona, a Mayfair witch. Merrick is also called to help with the predicament. This is a southern gothic tale, which only Anne Rice could imagine.
7. Blood Canticle

Plot Summary: This book is the last of Anne Rice Vampire Chronicles its tells about Lestat, Quinn, and Mona. Mona is part of the Mayfair witches; they turn her into a vampire. It revolves around trying to find the last remaining Taltos and the history of the Mayfair clan.
8. Dracula

Plot Summary: A story about a vampire named Dracula, who wrecks havoc in 19th Century England. All he wants is to turn Mina Harker into a vampire, and kill the ones dear to her. Van Helsing is the only person that can help Victorian England from him.
9. Dracula's Guest

Publication Date: 1914 (It was published in Dracula's Guest and other weird stories)
Plot Summary: About an Englishman (never said but it is presumably to be Jonathan Harker) on a visit to Munich before leaving to Transylvania. It is Walpurgis Night but he stills decides to leave in his carriage. He gets to his destination and takes shelter in a grove of cypress and yew trees. While there, he is forced by the Hail to take shelter in a tomb. A woman's body is in the tomb, she is supposed to be dead. However, it never bothers him until a sound of thunder throws Harker from the doorway. As another lighting bolt strikes the iron spike, it destroys the tomb and the screaming woman inside. Harker is in shock because he thinks she was dead, another thing scares him, a gigantic wolf with blazing eyes finds him. Luckily, military men save him and he goes back to his hotel room. While he is away, he learns about a telegram from Dracula which states to of "Dangers from snow and wolves of the night." I thought that I would explain the whole story, because most people do not know anything about this short story. It is something to read, if you really liked Dracula.
10. Dracula the Un-Dead

Plot Summary: This is the sequel to Dracula. Both Darce Stoker and Ian Holt are the great grandnephew of Bram Stoker. You get to read about each character 25 years after the tragedy and get to meet Quincy Harker, the son of Jonathan and Mina. Dracula comes back of course, and Quincy is forced to kill him. Also has Elizabeth Bathory in the mix.
11. In the Forest of the Night

Plot Summary: Tells a story about a vampire named Risika who is over 300 years old. She tells about how she was a human named Rachael but after becoming into the undead world, she became a dark vampire with the name Riskia. Her story is mostly about her feud with Aubrey who killed her twin brother. It is a young adult book but very craftily written for any age.
12. Companions of the Night

Plot Summary: Before Bella and Edward, there was Kerry and Ethan. While Kerry is at the Laundry mat she sees a young man get beat by these people, she helps him unknowing he is a vampire. She then learns he is a vampire and learns the vampire hunters kidnap her father and young brother. Fast paced story that is a great young adult story.
13. Salem's Lot

Plot Summary: Jerusalem Lot, a small town that gets new neighbors two vampires, it is noticed when some of them kept turning into the undead. One thing about this book, you never get to know that there are vampires around until you get more into the book that was his greatest mystery. It is more about the secrets of the town that makes this book freaky.

Plot Summary: Short story about a young woman that is getting terrorized by a female vampire. It has been long immortalized as plays, movies, just as Dracula has been.

Plot Summary: Richard d'Orleans once known as Lancelot now is a vampire. He is in the modern day world who protects people now. He helps a family who is on a run with assassins. Nigel Bennett who co-wrote this was from Forever Knight, a vampire TV show but some think that this a based off his character or the TV show but to note neither are related.
17. Red Death

Plot Summary: Jonathan Bartlett goes to Cambridge under his mother's advice in war torn America from the Revolutionary war. While he is there, he finds Nora a vampire who turns him. He then goes to America, to help the colonist not really knowing about being a vampire until he is shot with a musket, and comes back to life. This is the first book, of the Jonathan Bartlett series.

Plot Summary: A story based about Vlad the Impaler being a vampire. It is told to a teenage girl from her father, she learns that history is evil and that her father saw a vampire. This book is well written and it is a good tale of gothic horror.

21. The Vampyre

Plot Summary: A short story about Aubrey, a young Englishman meets Lord Ruthven, where they become good friends and travel together. Aubrey never really knows that he is a vampire until he learns the secret. Of course, because of their friendship he never tells. Nevertheless, he has a nervous breakdown seeing Ruthven with his sister. No more in detail I don't want to ruin the ending, but let us just say it ends very badly.

The book is very interesting because you get to read about Lestat being human and more on his friendship with David.

2. Queen of the Damned

Plot Summary: It is about the vampire Lestat becomes a rock star and awakes Akasha, the queen of all vampires. This movie gives hard rock music and gothic tones.
3. Blade

Plot Summary: Blade is born a half vampire and half human. Whistler his mentor and he are vampire hunters and they are trying to defeat Deacon Frost. Karen, a doctor was attacked and Blade saved her from becoming the undead. She then founds that she is in the world of vampires. The movie is a fast pace thriller, that keeps you on the edge your sit.
4. Dracula

Plot Summary: I think we all know this story; Dracula keeps Jonathan as a prisoner, and then wants to turn Mina his fiancée into a vampire. Before this was a movie, it was a play, interesting fact, also if I am not mistaken Bela played Dracula on the stage.
5. Dracula 2000

Plot Summary: Dracula is now in the 21st Century, there he wrecks havoc on Van Helsings daughter. This film is more of an updated version of Dracula.
6. Nosferatu

Plot Summary: Silent film about Count Orlock, who wrecks havoc on Europe, a German version of Dracula. I do not think I have to go in much detail, since this film is as popular as Dracula (1931).
7. Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Cast: Kristy Swanson, Luke Perry, Donald Sutherland, Paul Reubens, Rutger Hauer, and Hilary Swank.
Plot Summary: A teenage girl named Buffy, who lives in Sunnydale California, finds out she is a vampire slayer. It is a comedy, and teen movie. Buffy then became a TV show with Sarah Michelle Gellar.
8. Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust

Cast: Hideyuki Tanaka, Ichiro Nagai, Kochi Yamadera, and Megumi Hayashibara.
Plot Summary: Hunters race to save a girl stolen from her home by a vampire thousands of years in the future.
9. Underworld

Cast: Kate Beckinsale, Michael Sheen, Shane Brolly, Bill Nighy, and Scott Speedman.
Plot Summary: Selene for centuries kills werewolves, but then helps Michael who is going to be used for an experiment by the Lycans. Therefore, she tries to save him from his destiny to become a hybrid. It is a film that tells about Vampires vs. Werewolves.
10. Near Dark
Director: Kathryn Bigelow
Year: 1987
Cast: Bill Paxton, Adrian Pasdar, Jenny Wright, and Lance Henriksen.
Plot Summary: A farm boy, falls in love with a vampire then gets turned and his forced to be with the brutal vampire family. It is a darker film, not like Lost Boys, which came out the same year.
11. Lost Boys

Cast: Jason Patric, Corey Haim, Dianne West, Kiefer Sutherland, Corey Feldman, and Jami Gertz.
Plot Summary: Two brothers go to Santa Monica, the eldest brother Michael becomes a vampire after hanging out with teenage vampires. The youngest brother becomes friends with two young vampire hunters. This film is funny, dramatic, and a good thriller that is why it probably has a cult classic status.
12. Bram's Stoker Dracula:
Director: Francis Ford Coppola
Cast: Gary Oldman, Wionna Ryder, Richard E. Grant, Anthony Hopkins and Keanu Reeves.
Plot Summary: Jonathan Harker goes to Transylvania leaving his fiancée Mina. Dracula then holds him captive, while he goes to England to Mina. Dr. Van Helsing is the only one who can save them. His methods are raw but he gets the job done. It is a sleek Victorian gothic horror story with a slight humor by Anthony Hopkins and a great performance by Gary Oldman as Dracula.
13. The Night Flier

Cast: Miguel Ferrer, Julie Entwisle, Michael H. Moss, and Dan Monahan.
Plot Summary: Richard Dees a reporter for a sleazy tabloid is assigned to investigate series of "vampire" murders but after awhile he thinks, it might actually be a vampire. Stephen King wrote this story.
14. John Carpenter's Vampires

Plot Summary: A vengeful vampire hunter must stop a vampire master before he gets a cross that allows them to endure the light.

Plot Summary: A police detective investigates some mysterious disappearances from a club and finds out it is full of vampires and he then becomes the next victim.

Plot Summary: The vampire villain Radu comes back to his hometown Prejnar after many years of exile. He kills his father and wrecks havoc for his brother Stefan. Meanwhile, two American girls come to Romania, which makes Radu attracted to one, Michele.

Plot Summary: Egyptian vampire Miriam gets blood donors in return she gives them youth until she gets sick of them. That happens to John who gets help from a doctor, the doctor does not believe him until she contacts Miriam.
19. Horror of Dracula

Cast: Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, Michael Gough, John Van Eyysen, Melissa Stribling and Olga Dickie.
Plot Summary: Jonathan Harker knows that Dracula is actually a vampire, so he acts as a spy, until he gets in trouble and killed. Van Helsing, figures out what happened, gets his revenge, and destroys Dracula. This story is Hammer Productions way of telling the classic tale of Dracula.
20. Daywatch

Plot Summary: A story about Anton who is framed for a vampire murder but he never did it. He also tries to protect his son because he is from the darkness. The plot is about the clash between light and darkness. It is a Russian horror film.

23. The Night Stalker

Plot Summary: Carl Kolchak investigates a string of gruesome murders in Las Vegas which the victims are drained of blood. This makes it believe that a vampire is to be blamed and Kolchak is hot on the trail.

Plot Summary: Sean is driving cross-country to his sisters wedding he then picks up a hitchhiker who is actually a vampire hunter. He then is caught in a war with vampires; also, they meet a girl who is infected with the virus.

Plot Summary: An abandoned house that was once inhabited by a wealthy man who committed suicide. The house then is taken up by ghoulish figures and the question is are they vampires?

Cast: Jonathan Frid, Grayson Hall, Kathryn Leigh Scott, and Roger Davis.
Plot Summary: Barnabes Collins wants a cure, he find helps with Dr. Julia Hoffman. However, amidst the horror he finds love with Maggie.
31. Count Yorga

Cast: Robert Quarry, Roger Perry, Michael Murphy, and Judy Lang.
Plot Summary: Count Yorga wrecks havoc for two couples Michael and Donna and Paul and Erica. A great underrated vampire movie.
32. Vampire Effect

Cast: Ekin Cheng, Charlene Choi, Gillian Chung, Edison Chen and Jackie Chan.
Plot Summary: Two girls and a guy start a fight with the Fifth Prince of the vampire nation and with the Duke. It is just a comedy with good action sequences. Not much too really say about this film, you have to watch it to believe it.
33. Innocent Blood

Cast: Anne Parillaud, David Proval, Chazz Palminteri, Anthony LaPagila, and Rocco Sisto.
Plot Summary: A vampire woman decides to help a detective to take down a mafia boss.
34. The Vampire Night Orgy
Director: Leon Klimovsky
Year: 1973
Cast: Jack Taylor, Dyanik Zurakowsa, Jose Guardiola, Charo Soriano, and Helga Line.
Plot Summary: Do not worry about the title, some would think it is perverse hardly, there is little nudity in this movie. This film is about a group of tourists who are stuck in this creepy village, which just happen to be run by a countess who is a vampire. One by one, they are killed off.
35. Wisdom of Crocodiles
Director: Po-Chih Leong
Year: 1998
Cast: Jude Law, Jack Davenport, Timothy Spall, and Elina Lowensohn.
Plot Summary: A vampire in London is searching for an ideal woman because most of his relationships end in tragedy. The title refers to a quote from Francis Bacon, "who shed tears when they devour their prey." He was talking about crocodiles, which it is a statement about Jude Law's vampire character.
36. 30 Days of Night

Cast: Josh Hartnett, Melissa George, Danny Huston, and Ben Foster.
Plot Summary: In Alaska each year the Sun leaves, well normally it is okay until a bad of very dangerous vampires decide to viciously attack the townspeople. This is a real good vampire movie, it strays away from the vampire being hero.
37. Perfect Creature

Year: 2006
Cast: Saffron Burrows, Dougray Scott, Leo Gregory, Craig Hall, and Scott Willis.
Plot Summary: Two brothers, one who is affected with a disease becomes evil. Therefore, he has to track him down and kill him. In addition, a woman detective and her friend help with the problem.
38. Martin
Director: George A. Romero
Year: 1977
Cast: John Amplas, Lincoln Maazel, Christine Forrest and Tom Savini.
Plot Summary: A young man lives with his uncle, he thinks that he is a vampire, and he wants to try help his blood urges. This was one of George Romero's first movie.
39. Nadja
Director: Michael Almereyda
Year: 1994
Cast: Elina Lowensohn, Nic Ratner, Karl Geary, Peter Fonda and David Lynch.
Plot Summary: Members of a dysfunctional family of vampires are trying to come to terms with each other, since their father's death. While this happens, Van Helsing and his nephew are hunting them down.
40. Subspecies 4: Bloodstorm

Year: 1998
Cast: Anders Hove, Denice Duff, Jonathon Morris, Iona Abur, and Mihai Dinvale.
Plot Summary: Michelle finally escapes Radu, and finds a doctor Ana who will help her. Radu then finds aid in Ash but in reality Ash and his protégé Serna want to kill Radu. Therefore, they find aid with Michelle and Ana.
41. Daybreakers

Cast: Ethan Hawke, Allan Todd, Damien Garvey, Harriett Minto-Day and Jay Laga'aia
Plot Summary: The world is now full of vampires and the blood supply is dwindling. Therefore, the last humans are trying to escape and small groups of vampires are trying to find a cure and help humankind.
42. Vampires the Turning

Plot Summary: An American muay-thai fighter in Thailand must join forces with a group of vampire's hunters to destroy a Lord who kidnapped his girlfriend.
43. From Dusk Till Dawn

Plot Summary: Two thugs decide to take a family hostage; they make them stop at a bar, which is actually full of vampire strippers.
44. The Last Man of Earth

Plot Summary: A plague happens and everyone is a vampire until one man who is not affected decides to destroy them and help humanity.
45. Son of Dracula

Cast: Robert Paige, Lon Chaney Jr., Frank Craven, and George Irving.
Plot Summary: Count Alucard is now in the deep swamps of the south. He is involved with a woman who is obsessed with the supernatural. Only her fiancé, Dr. Brewster and Professor Lazlo can stop her and Count Alucard.
46. Condemned to Live

Year: 1935
Cast: Ralph Morgan, Maxine Doyle, Pedro de Cordoba and Russell Gleason.
Plot Summary: After a series of unsolved murders, a man finds out that a vampire bat bit his mother during her pregnancy. So this makes him to believe that he may be the vampire committing the murders.
47. Mark of the Vampire

Plot Summary: A scientist captures young women and drains their blood just to keep an ancient evil duchess alive.
49. Tale of a Vampire

Cast: Julian Sands, Suzanna Hamilton, Kenneth Cranham, and Marion Diamond.
Plot Summary: Alex is a vampire who falls in love with a librarian named Anna until another vampire Edgar ruins his life.
50. Let the Right on In
Director: Tomas Alfredson
Year: 2008
Cast: Kare Hedebrant, Lina Leanderrson, Per Ragnar, and Henrik Dahl.
Plot Summary: A young child finds out that a 12 year old, girl is actually a vampire. They then find some sort of a friendship.
This is is not a complete list, just a small list of films that are either great or terrible it is your call. So that's it there is no order of best or worst, just when I thought of a film or book I wrote it down.
