October was "Domestic Violence" month. Well, October is gone, but the fight to end domestic violence and homelessness is a never-ending battle. There is a walk taking place. There is a story of two extraordinary people who are walking to get donations to give the proceeds to homeless shelters and other needy organizations.
Danielle Pierre and Tim Pina, who are both walking from San Francisco to San Diego, some 500 miles, an average of 12 miles per day, to help raise funds for this plight and epidemic. Danielle Pierre has written a book on the subject of her own domestic violence situation and victory over it entitled, "Just Make It Happen!" It took all of two weeks to finish this project of hers, to get out quickly to the public, her experience, strength and hope to the helpless and homeless, so as to enable them to be delivered out of seemingly hopeless situations. Adamant about informing those that are afflicted by such a detrimental way of life, and that there are roads leading to a new and better life, within the pages of Danielle's book. The book can be found on their website below.
Danielle witnessed abuse as a child and was abused emotionally and physically when she was older. She decided, "Enough is enough". She credits positive affirmations and changing her "stinking-thinking". She replaced negative self-talk with positive self-help, much like the thinking employed in a lot of motivational speech. She attributes exercise as well, along with smoking cessation, and became a new embodiment of health and power, something abused women will surely admire and desire to emulate. Perhaps her book would be good material within the confines of homeless shelters nation-wide, or even worldwide, put to a good purpose in counseling sessions.
Tim Pina is her partner in this "not just talking the talk but walking the walk" crusade. He is one of the co-founders of Walk It Out Fundraisers. Despite his grueling trek, he doesn't let a little thing like weather or windstorms get in his way. He has a mission and he is on track. They are expecting to arrive at their destination mid-November. Thumbs up for a worthy cause; a 500-mile walk well worth the time and effort. Their tenacity is to be admired. Make sure you check out:

It is well worth giving a shout out to, a pat on the shoulder and even a helping hand in form of a donation for this worthy cause. There are well over one million people in this country that are homeless, most of them women and children. There are families that sleep outdoors because there are not enough resources to harbor them. Meals are hard to come by as they have no address, and to receive benefits, you must have a legal residence. Shame on us, America. So, here is to hoping that anyone who reads this article may become just as compassionate about this plight and fired up enough about these two people's passion to fight homelessness and domestic violence, and put an end to these jaw-dropping statistics.
