The first 50th birthday party invitation idea I have is the all time favorite "Over the Hill" theme. You can go a couple of different ways with this theme. One is a store bought card and the other is a homemade card featuring the birthday person.
1. Here are a few stores that sell "Over the Hill" themed birthday invitations.
2. Evite offers free online invitations
3. To custom make your own 50th birthday invitations
· Choose a picture of the birthday person. This will be the cover of the invitation. On the inside you can put the details of the party. You can also use a template, such as this one http://www.hooverwebdesign.com/youre-invited-printable-invitation.html, for your invitations. If you use a template, you can place a picture inside or you can alter the template to suit your style and wants.
Another idea for a 50th birthday party is to take the decade that the birthday person was born in and make that the theme of the party. Let's say that the birthday person was born in the 50s. One theme you could use would be a popular TV show from that time period. Here are a few invitation ideas for if you decide to go this route.
1. "I Love Lucy"
· If you want to make your own invitations, you can simply print out a picture of the cast or a still from the show. The picture you choose for the front of the card is completely up to you. If you would like to, you can say something to the effect of "Joe is turning 50!" or "Travel back in time with us for Joe's 50th birthday party". On the inside of the card you would want to put the specifics of the party (who, what, where, when, etc.). You could also add a quote from the show. Internet Movie Database has a huge selection of quotes.
2. "The Adventures of Superman"
· This would be a fun party theme that you could easily buy party invitations for at virtually any party store, such as Party City. Some of the invitations from a party store might seem a bit juvenile but you could easily find at least one that would be suitable for this party. If you wanted to make a homemade card, you can follow the same process as the "I Love Lucy" card.
3. "Gunsmoke"
· This would be a hard theme to buy invitations for, so the best way to use this theme would be to make the invitations. Follow the same steps as the "I Love Lucy" card. However, if you wanted to buy invitations you could go with a western theme.
A Casino Night theme is another fun idea for a 50th birthday party. There are a few ideas for invitations related to this theme.
1. Poker Chip Invites
· This is an easy and attractive invitation. You can do this invitation one of two ways. You can put the whole invitation on one chip or you can use multiple chips. If you use multiple chips you could put "Joe's 50th Birthday" on one chip and put the details (who, what, where, when) on 1-2 additional chips. If you choose to use just one chip you could put "Joe's 50th Birthday" on the front and "RSVP (555) 555-5555" on the back. If you use one chip, you will want to enclose a paper or some sort that includes the details.
2. You can also use paper invitations for this party. A local party supply store should have appropriate invitations.
The final 50th birthday party invitation idea I have for you is to use a past time or hobby of the birthday person as the theme. I will give you a few possible themes.
1. Golf
· Most party stores sell golf themed invitations.
· You can also make your own invites. An easy DIY invitation is to make a golf ball shaped invitation (click here for a template). If you want to add a more personal touch, you can put a picture of the birthday person on the front of the card.
2. Beach
· You can buy beach themed invitations.
· A more entertaining idea is to buy some inflatable beach balls and make them the invitations. You might need to blow them up to write the information on them. A fun phrase for the invitations is "Life's a beach! Come join us for Sally's 50th birthday party!"
I hope you have found these ideas helpful and I wish you happy birthday planning!
