In less than two months another earthquake has rocked the world this time in Okcular, Turkey.

Hundred of earthquake survivors gathered around bonfires Monday hoping to find relief from the cold after a strong tremor knocked down stone and mud brick homes in five villages, killing 51 people.

Once again people in poorly made buildings awoke to the swaying and crashing of buildings. People fled to the streets of the village that is perched on a hill in front of snow covered mountains, with some people climbing out of windows to escape.

"I tried to get out of the door but it wouldn't open. I came out of the window and started helping my neighbors," Ali Riza Ferhat of Okcular told NTV television, "we removed six bodies."

According to the Kandilli seismology center, the 6.) magnitude quake hit at 4:32 a.m. near the village of Basyurt.

More than 100 aftershocks measuring up to 5.5 has hit the region.

Earthquake are frequent in Turkey, much of which lies on top of two main fault lines. In 1999, two earthquakes killed 18,000.

Richard Luckett a seismologist from the British Geological Survey, says there has not been a spike in global seismic activity.

He also said "earthquakes don't get reported because the damage or death toll is minimal." "The point is that earthquakes are common and always have been."

Sounds like someone is in denial about the devestation and occurrences of these earthquakes.
