I suppose I could follow the political examples and form a committee to discuss it. I know the results of that... Lot's of great ideas will be discussed and once again nothing will be done about it. I could write to my Congressman, Senator, and Mr Obama. This will make me feel as if I was doing something and I'm sure my letter will be filled in that special circular file. Y'all know the one where we all put our paper to be recycled.
Let me address my favorite issues and what I am doing about them today.
Immigration: I believe Immigration is one of the most valuable things we have to offer.. However I believe Immigration should require a commitment to become an American not some hyphenated disgrace to both our intelligence. This includes learning the language and customs of our country. My Grandparents were immigrants from Germany. They became Americans. They spoke English and understood US Currency. Yes there still was Polka music, Bratwurst, and all other things from their home country but they were American first. It's called Civic Pride no hyphen needed.
Bail Outs: If Ford doesn't need any Government Money why should we give GM or Chrysler any? Who's next in line Honda, Nissan, and Toyota? These folks are businessmen and women. They are intelligent enough to fix these problems. Perhaps they will need the protection of Bankruptcy but it can be done. Didn't Lee Iaccoca perform this hat trick for Chrysler once before? Where is his experience today? Has anyone thought to ask him? Of course he may still have the Ford Better Idea play book.
Bail Out AIG, Wall Street, etc. NO WAY! NO MORE !!! These folks are money people. They know how to make money dance. They know how to manipulate the numbers to make the accountants smile.... Stand back and let 'em sink or swim. Y'all know how to tell when these type folks ate lying? Whenever their lips are moving. I know since Congress has their retirement with AIG this won't happen.
The current political position on these issues is unacceptable to me. I am a registered voter and I do vote. There is an election this year.... I may vote against many of the 545 folks that currently have the power to make my life miserable. Agree perhaps you could send this link to Mr Obama @ http://www.whitehouse.gov/CONTACT/
