Go-It-Alone did not work

My experience with dieting has been nothing short of confusing and exhausting. I first tried simply eating less and exercising more. That sounded simple enough. When I was very active and a bit younger I had no problem staying thin and fit. The problem with this plan, or lack of plan as it were, was that without knowing what foods to cut out when cutting back you lose the building blocks to a healthy you. My energy levels crashed and my work outs became a waste of time. I didn't have a 5-Factor Plan Diet, or any other plan diet to teach me. I was going it alone.

South Beach did not work

Next I tried the South Beach Diet. First off, this plan was just a book, nothing interactive or motivational like the 5-Factor Plan Diet...just black ink on white paper, best of luck book. It did tell me what was in foods that were good for me, maybe hundreds of foods. The book told me what foods not to eat, again by the laundry list. Then the book told me what order and when to eat the right foods; and when I should eat the foods that were not great for me, but if eaten at the correct times and in the correct way would not hurt.

Frankly I found South Beach to more academic than motivational, and near impossible to stick with. The first two weeks required an all out carbohydrate fast that left me sick by the second week. I was weak and dizzy at work and decided that I would have to jump past the fasting phase. Not far into the second phase I gave up looking for food combinations that would fit the plan. It would have been nice to be able to go to the 5-Factor Plan Diet on-line tools and get help.

Best wishes on reaching your own diet, health and fitness goals.
