5th Graders Charged with Having Sex in Classroom

Two 11 year-old girls along with a 12 year-old and a 13 year-old are being charged with obscenity for having sex in their fifth grade classroom that had been unsupervised for 30 minutes. One child who is 11 years-old is being charged as an accessory for his role in being the look out while the four had sex in front of other students.

The incident occurred on March 27, 2007 in Spearsville, Louisiana at Spearsville High School. The kids in question were either suspended, expelled or sent to other schools until police were through with their investigation. Sheriff Bob Buckley of Union Parish said "After 44 years of doing this work, nothing shocks me anymore, but this comes pretty close."

The school which is kindergarten through 12th grade is shocked and wants to get to the bottom of what really happened. Authorities were not informed of the incident until a day after it happen. One of the students that had been in the classroom while the other ones were having sex, told one of the high school students of the incident and they went to a teacher to and informed them of what the young student had witnessed.

The names of the students that were involved in the incident were not released since they are minors. Officials are not sure if the children will face any charges but they will be arraigned in juvenile court.

Spearsville High School officials have yet to speak of the incident until all the facts are present. One teacher who teaches 5th through 8th grade said "What is our world coming to when children can just have sex in a classroom without anyone knowing."
