6 Best Moments in the Dancing with the Stars Premiere -- Lady's Night

Fall TV

The fifth year of Dancing With the Stars opened the season with the women dancing. Co-host Samantha Harris had a baby yesterday. Second-season winner Drew Lachey is subbing for her, filling her backstage interviewer role, if not her ballgowns.

These were the six best moments of the show:

1. Judge Bruno getting his first big laugh by calling "90210" actress Jennie Garth a "yummy mummy." (That's mummy as in mother of children, not as in an Egyptian cloth-wrapped corpse.)

2. Singer Sabrina Bryan's energetic, entertaining hip-hop flavored cha cha.

3. Marie Osmond's personality-packed fox trot.

4. Max Chmerkovskiy's perpetual-motion-machine hips.

5. The chemistry between Max and his partner, Mel B (Scary Spice). Their strong personalities complement each other.

6. Jane Seymour, lifting the age ceiling for women on the show, by coming on at age 56. She looks great and danced well.

Predictions: Sabrina Brown, Marie Osmond, and Scary Spice are all strong contenders, with Sabrina looking poised to take the early lead. "Deceptively unfit" model Josie Marin and forgettable Jennie Garth are probably in trouble.

Tomorrow, the men dance. The most interesting pairing is Wayne "Mr. Las Vegas" Newton with choreographer extraordinaire, Cheryl Burke.

I know this is a little late...but I think it's great! I enjoyed Drew Lachey filling in for Samantha Harris. And I really thought Sabrina was going to make it much farther than she did. She blew me away. Oh, and I love the chemistry between Maks and Mel B. - that has to be one of the best matches they've made yet! I'm looking forward to season 6! Great job!
