Easter is normally a time when everyone tries to go to church. Even people who have not been to church in years typically try to find a place to worship on Easter. Unfortunately, if you don't have a connection with a church in your area, it can be difficult to know when and where you should go to church. Here is a brief guide to Easter worship services at several churches on the Westside of Indianapolis, IN.

If you don't have a connection with a particular denomination, United Methodist Churches tend to be a good place to go. United Methodists tend to be very welcoming, inclusive, and almost always have food. For Easter services on the Westside of Indianapolis, I recommend the Bridgeport United Methodist Church. This church defines itself as a small church with a big heart. In fact, that's their website. The small, if slightly older, congregation is extremely welcoming, and the preaching is always excellent. Bridgeport UMC will start Easter morning off with a 7am Early Service, breakfast at 8am, and an Easter Cantata at 10am. It is located at 1305 Bridgeport Road. Contact them at 317-241-6195.

The Westlake Church of Christ also has an Easter service at 10am. If you go to the Westlake Church of Christ, expect warm greetings and free coffee and donuts as you enter. The worship will include praise music and Communion, and a separate place for the kids. Westlake Church of Christ is located at 612 North High School Road. Call them at 317-244-3974.

Jesus the Messiah calls itself the Blended Church. "No Religion, No Racism, Just Jesus," is their slogan. This church offers a "safe environment" for all to come and worship. Jesus the Messiah: The Blended Church has longer worship services than you would typically find in United Methodist or Church of Christ settings. Easter morning worship is held from 8:30am - 10am, and again from 10:30am - 12pm. This church is located at 2215 Country Club Rd. They can be reached at 290-1015.

For a more traditional "high church" Easter experience, look to St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, located at 6118 Crawfordsville Road. Easter service, including weekly Holy Communion, begins at 10:30am. Although Lutherans welcome all to worship with them, typically, you have to be baptized or a member of the Lutheran denomination to receive Communion with them. If you have questions, call St. Andrew's Lutheran Church at 317-243-6684.

The Friendship Missionary Baptist Church will host Easter services at 10:45am. Their dynamic ministry includes everything from choir practice to computer classes, as they believe in meeting all the needs of their diverse congregation. Friendship Missionary Baptist Church is located at 1301 North Goodlet Ave. Call them at 317-917-8024.

Liberty Baptist Church offers two Easter services. The first begins at 10:45am, and the second is in the evening at 6pm. Through several programs and support groups, the people at Liberty Baptist Church find strength to resist popular culture that is counter to a Biblical approach to life. Liberty Baptist Church is located at 10450 E County Road 450 N. Call them at 317-293-1884.
