6 Easy Ways to Improve Spring Allergies

Lyn Vaccaro
As an asthmatic myself, I find that as welcome a time as spring is, it's not without it's difficulties. The buds on the trees as well as the blooming flowers and more, can create a powerful mix for anyone with allergies to suffer from. Below, I've outlined some natural easy ways to maybe not rid yourself of this problem completely, but at the very least improve the negative impact that these spring allergens can cause.

Herbal Antihistamines

These herbal alternatives for allergies are primarily used for their antihistamine effects which is helpful for keeping the body from launching an allergic reaction. They include:

Stinging Nettle (most popular for fighting allergies)

Eyebright

Chamomile

Yarrow

Ginger

Basil

Fennel

Passionflower

Herbal Decongestants

Burdock

White Pine

Horseradish

Marshmallow Root

Eucalyptus

Chili

Eliminate Dairy Products

Or at the very least, try to minimize your intake of this food group. Dairy is well known for creating mucous, as well as it's ability to cause immune system reactions.

Modify The Inflammatory Response

Allergic reactions cause inflammation to occur. You can help decrease inflammation by eating lots of dark colored antioxidant rich fruits like berries and cherries.

Include Lots of Omega 3's In Your Diet

These good oils are very nourishing to the immune system and will aid in less of an immune response as well as minimize and sooth allergic skin reactions such as eczema.

Stay Well Hydrated

Keeping yourself from dehydration will be a big help in thinning the mucous build up from allergy response, both in the lungs as well as nasal passages. You'll be better able to cough up the lung mucous, and blowing out the nasal mucous will be that much easier.

By implementing these steps throughout springtime, you just might find yourself better able to enjoy this pleasant season without too much sneezing and blowing! Enjoy!
