6 Last Minute Halloween Costume Ideas for Boys

"Hey, Mom, I am supposed to wear a costume to school today." Oh, the wonders of living in a small town where classes still have parties to celebrate Halloween. The only problem was, the bus is coming and the store is 45 miles away. I have been coming up with cheap last minute costume ideas for boys for years. It usually takes just diving into my husband's closet and praying the kids will forgive me when I get them their "regular" costume for trick or treating later in the day.

Last Minute Costume Idea for Boys #1: Hobo

Take one of dad's old long-sleeved shirts. The uglier the shirt, the better for this costume. Use a small pillow for stuffing, and some mascara to darken the eye brows. Throw a hanky around a short stick to carry an extra pair of socks and your child is instantly transformed into a hobo.

Last Minute Costume Idea for Boys #2: Sheriff

Make a silver star out of tin foil. If you have a cowboy hat, you can quickly change your child into the Wild West's sheriff.

Last Minute Costume Idea for Boys #3: Sports Hero

If your child played in sports, drag out his uniform. This works great if he was in football, baseball, or maybe is a Karate student.

Last Minute Costume Idea for Boys #4: Pirate

Think Johnny Depp and Pirates of the Caribbean. A white shirt, pants tucked into boots, and three scarves and your son is instantly a pirate.

Last Minute Costume Idea for Boys#4: Construction Worker

If you happen to have some type of hardhat lying around, you almost have a complete Halloween costume. Just add a long sleeve work shirt and jeans. (Roll up the sleeves of mom or dad's if you need to).

Last Minute Costume Idea for Boys #5: Ghost

You can always take an old white sheet and cut out eye holes to make a quick ghost.

Last Minute Costume Idea for Boys #6: Mini Me

Whatever you do, be it lawyer, Dr, or housekeeper, dress your son up as a mini-me. Use an old suit and tie, and suddenly he is a banker.

The main idea for a quick last minute costume is to use what you have on hand. You are only limited by your imagination. Have fun with this and try not to stress too much. Have your son dig through his toy box and he may come up with his own great idea for a last minute costume.
