6 Rapes First Week of Spring Break in Daytona Beach Florida

Ms. Marie
You see the postcards and Florida looks breathtaking with its sandy beaches, and blue skies lined with palm trees. A vision of a vacation in paradise fills your mind, and that stands true for many a young adults. They plan ahead of time, and eagerly await their spring break so they can rush down to Florida to enjoy a sun filled vacation.

Daytona Beach, Florida is the place to be for Spring Breakers, and each year businesses await the arrival of their visitors. Afterall, it is a very profitable time. Hotels, bars, clubs, and stores all benefit from Spring Break, which should be a good thing. Unfortunately, with it comes the partying. Drugs, alcohol, and the "what happens on spring break stays in spring break" attitude. Young women strut around with barely nothing on, and they do not think about the perverts lurking and waiting for the right moment.

Last year there were a reported 41 rapes in Daytona Beach during spring break, and already during the first week 2010 spring break in March there has been a reported 6 rapes. One victim, the youngest, is reported to be only 14-years-old. Half of those victims are said to have been unconscious during the attack and rape.

Spring break in Daytona Beach involves risky business with all the drinking, drugging, and partying. Everyone wants to have a sort of "girls gone wild" time, but the preditors and creeps are well aware of this opportunity to take advantage of vulunerable females.

Ladies, young and old, need to be alert at all times. Authorities are telling women to use the buddy system, and not to travel anywhere, not even to the restroom, alone. That is good advice, but once drunk or high the ability to think logically leaves, and a feel good carelessness sets in which causes the danger. No woman wants to be raped, but it happens. Girls and women need to keep in mind that partying too much while wearing beach wear can lead to some reckless unintentional actions like just wandering off to use the ladies room alone; sadly you should be able to do that, but reality proves it is not possible or safe during spring break in Daytona Beach.

Daytona beach and spring break has gotten way out of control, and that has contributed to the increased incidences of rapes over the years. The partying isn't going to stop so women have to take control if they decide to vacation in Florida's Daytona beach.

Parents have to stay on top of thier teens whereabouts too. Maybe Daytona beach is not a place for them to be during spring break. So far the police have caught one suspect, but there are many more out there just waiting to make their move so women need to be aware of their surrounding at all times. Pay attention to that stranger who looks suspicious. Keep the drinking to a minimum, and never leave your drink unattended because anyone can drop something in it when you turn your head for just a second.

Daytona Beach, although very good for business during spring break, has become a very risky place for women and girls during spring break. A lot of these young ladies have no idea what can happen in during spring break because they are just looking to have the best time possible during their vaction.
