6 Tips on How to Compromise as a Couple

Michelle Knudson
It isn't all about just one person in a romance relationship. Each couple needs to learn how to compromise otherwise it will end in resentment. Here are six tips on how to compromise as a couple.

Holiday Visits

Each year couples have to make the decision of which set of relatives to visit for the holidays. Some couples end up visiting aunt so and so each year due to the miles away from other relatives is just too much of a long trip. You need to make it a priority to see the relatives some time during the year perhaps around 4th of July each year since it is a three day weekend in most cases.

Vacation Separate or Together

Some couples agree to go on separate vacations each year without their partner. Some people like to go on separate vacations with their sister or whoever, but not the wife or husband. You two might like to go on vacations together which is good too, but just make sure that you don't drive each other nuts.

Agree Upon Nights Out With Women and Men

You don't need to spend every waking moment with the partner. You two need to come to agreement upon which nights you spend out with women and men. It is healthy for you guys to spend time with your friends during the week. Make sure that you have rules about drinking liquor and other things that make you feel uncomfortable. You also want to agree upon a time to be home by in order to reduce worry.

Spending Money

You both need to have a little spending money here and there. You don't want to have such a tight budget without any spending money since it will just cause more stress. A twenty dollar bill here and there won't hurt much as long as you make enough money without going hungry in the process. You can kinda look at spending money like an allowance once it is gone then no more type of thing so you don't go into debt.

Joint or Separate Bank Accounts

You need to agree upon this before you get married whether or not you are going to have joint or separate bank accounts. You need to think about this one very carefully if either of you owe any back child support, judgments, and back taxes due to garnishment of bank accounts. You don't want to end up in an argument over these type of issues such as back child support, judgments, and taxes in the future.

Who Manages The Money

You need to decide which one of you manages the money better. Every relationship usually have the frugal person and the partner has a bad habit of spending money like crazy. You should make sure that you don't end up in debt due to letting the person with poor money management handle the finances in the future.
