I was pregnant and there was a baby on the way. As I slowly came back to reality, I realized I needed a plan of action if I was going to get all the things I needed for my baby. Don't be afraid to dream for a while. It doesn't hurt to really imagine everything you want in your baby room, and think big. If this is your first baby, thinking big doesn't seem all that hard. You want that baby to have everything, and so the shopping begins.
Before you get started, here are some tips on preparing for a newborn that can be handy as you get closer to your birth. Remember that even if you don't get your entire to-do list done before the birth, it's ok. Everything will work out beautifully as soon as that little one is in your arms!
Register your Baby
First, you want to register all those cute little items you just love. Go to stores like Target or Wal-Mart and register. Don't be skimpy. Register everything you love and let family and friends bless you without you spending a dime. That is the beauty of registering. It's easy. It's simple to do. It will pay off in the long run. Take the time to register. You won't regret it.
Baby Shower
The baby shower can really save the day when it comes to getting what you need for your baby. Let's face it. We don't always go simple when it comes to the little one that's on the way. We want the cutest stuff there is. If you are one of these moms, you need a baby shower! A baby shower is a fun way to bring all your friends and family to buy all the things you really love.
Tip: If there is something expensive you really want, get your family and friends to go together to buy it. This makes it possible to buy more expensive items like car seat, rocking chair, and baby furniture.
Check for Bargains
Whether this is your first newborn or fourth, you want the best. Just don't think it has to be at a high price. Today, you not only can find sales, but you also can utilize sites like Craigslist and eBay to find the best baby items at a lower price.
As you're searching, don't be afraid to look for used items. Sometimes, you can get a better bargain by buying a used item at a great price. Craigslist is wonderful for looking for baby furniture. If you aren't familiar with Craigslist, try going to consignment shops tailoring toward babies and pregnant. You possibly can find baby furniture at great prices.
• eBay
• Craigslist
• Consignment Shops
• Coupons and Sales
Remember, no matter what you need for your baby, don't pay full price. There are so many deals to be gotten; it just takes a little patience and perseverance. If you've take a little time to really figure out what you need and what you can afford, this can also help you to know what you need at a bargained price.
Breastfeeding
If you haven't checked the prices of baby formula, you will be amazed at the high prices. If you can breastfeed, save yourself the cost of bottles, nipples, and formula. Breast milk is not only good for the baby, but can help you lose wait quicker and faster. If you can't breastfeed, don't fret. Utilize formula coupons to help curb the costs associated with baby formula. For that matter, coupons can also be a great helpful. Check online or in your newspaper for the best coupons.
Baby Journaling
As you begin getting ready for your newborn baby, try to start recording all the big moments of your pregnancy and birth. There are so many moments that we want to remember but often don't. By journaling your pregnancy, you won't forget any of the moments as they will all be documented.
To really have fun with Pregnancy Journaling, you can add pictures to each special memory you write. These will be the memories you remember forever. Not only will you love having a record of your baby's life but you will also be able to tell so many more memories to your baby because you have a journal.
Sleep
As you get ready for the newborn, remember that sleep is a necessity. If you can learn to sleep with your newborn sleeps, you will feel rested more when he/she is awake. Of course, if you are a working mom, try to spread the chores with family members so you don't feel like are working and doing all the house work.
One thing my husband and I have done is to split the household chores between us. In addition, we will switch nights to cook, making it easier with kids running around. Preparing for a newborn can be exhausting so try to get as much rest, before he/she enters the world.

Also, you might want to make a list before you actually register so you know exactly what you need. There are always family and friends who don't want to go by a baby register but would prefer you just telling them what you want. Having a Newborn list is helpful for times like these. Just mark off what they are buying and you will be one step closer to being ready for your newborn!
