6 Tips for Purchasing a Stair Lift

Elizabeth Pou
Recently, my great grandmother suffered from some health problems and was not able to move around without support. My grandmother lives in a two story home so I knew the stairs would be a problem. I decided to do some research on solutions that would help my great grandmother to access the stairs. The family really couldn't afford to remodel my grandmother's home and my grandmother didn't want to move. Also, the family really didn't want to sell the house because of so many memories. Installing a stair lift seemed like the more reasonable choice.

Furthermore, installing a stair lift is the best solution for anyone that's disable, dealing with arthritis or any other chronic disease. Technology is at a very advance stage that there's a stair lift available to fit with any home. To illustrate a point, there are stair lift solutions for a home with a curved stair. It's important to purchase a stair life from a professional and a company that has experience with selling stair lifts. I will be sharing six tips that will help with making the right decisions about purchasing a stair lift.

  1. Do you know which stair lifts will work in your home? This can be resolved by contacting your local Occupational Therapy Department in Social Services.
  2. You should ask the company for a complete list of the different type of stair lifts available with their company.
  3. Sales brochures and any literature on the subject is a good way to find out about the different models of stair lifts.
  4. The purchase of a stair lift can include the installation fees or can be addition fees. Check with the company about installation fees.
  5. There could be special conditions for a curved staircase. You can have the guy to come out and give a personalized quote.
  6. Buy a stair lift that has a warranty. A warranty will help with fees if the stir lift gets damage or stop working.

Installing a stair lift will allow a person that's limited to regain their independence. A stair life makes it's possible to access the home with ease and convenience. Many people have remodeled their home to fit their needs but this isn't cost effective for everyone. Also, another option is to move to a smaller place. The stair lift will allow anyone with disability to be able to access their home without making extreme changes.
