1. Exercise
Exercise can invigorate you with a new sense of energy, plus get you in a mood to finish any work that needs attendance. You can think sharper and your body will be moving at the same speed as your mind, creating a sense of balance within you. If you work at a desk, a little running in place, push ups, a few sit ups, and even a bit of stretching or Yoga is good for you, and your body.
2. Watch Hulu
Bored with a few hours to pass? Better jump on the Hulu bandwagon before it becomes a pay-to-use web site. Hulu has hundreds of shows, comedy, action, drama, and more. Not only does it have TV shows, but Hulu also carries movies, and weekly they are taking down old shows and putting up new ones. It's worth checking out when dying of boredom.
3. Play a game
Spent a few hours really cranking down on your work? No customers in your office? Kick back and go to one of the many free gaming web sites out there, including Bubble Box, and Armor Games. They offer tons of completely FREE games that run directly in your browser. No need to minimize full screen games to help those customers, it's all windowed!
4. Learn a new hobby
Always wanted to learn how to draw? Write a story? Want to work out and become a stronger person? Whatever fits your fancy, take it up and try it as a new hobby. Learn to knit, or start practicing yoga. There are thousands of small things you can do to make the time pass!
5. Get on a social networking site
Sitting idly in front of a blank computer screen? Get on Facebook and find some old classmates and friends. Join Twitter and start blogging away to your hearts delight (within the designated 140 characters, of course!) This can, in turn, increase your social circle, and you may actually meet some new and great friends/penpals/or even your next romance!
6. Make extra money
Know how to fix computers? Can you build something awesome? Try creating or maintaining a talent at work, and while making a little extra cash. If you work somewhere small that has a lot of customers, offer to fix their computers, laptops, cell phones, bracelets, repair their hats, create web sites, logo designs, or whatever that talent of yours may be. Not only will this keep you busy on your lonesome work days, but it can also, potentially, put some extra green in your pocket.
Now remember that, while you can use these examples as things to do to pass time, you are still in a professional work environment. Unless you have the freedom to get away with some of the above listed, do not put yourself or your job in danger. Play it safe, and speed up your work day!
