6 Ways to Make More Money on Associated Content

Here are six ways to earn more money on associated content.

1 Become a Featured Contributor

Featured Contributors get a guaranteed number of at least three $10 assignments each month, as long as you keep producing good articles, and keep up with your assignments. You can be a featured Contributor in up to four categories on Associated Content, three regular categories, and a local category for some areas of the country. If you are featured in four categories, this is an easy guaranteed extra $120 per month, plus any page view bonuses you receive for those articles.

2 Write Longer Articles

A good number of words per article to aim for is about 500 to 600. This is not too long or short for the average reader. Too much longer and some readers tend to get bored, too short and your SEO might be affected. Also, it's a good idea to extend your article to two or three pages to get more page views. In addition, you won't likely get an upfront offer for articles less than 400 words.

Don't add fluff or filler just to extend an article that is too short- add more real content. Fluff is obvious to readers, and they won't read more of your work.

3 Learn SEO

Learn search engine optimization. If you don't know what that means, it's essential you do your research and get a good understanding of it if you want to make money writing online. In general, you want to write on subjects that enough readers are searching for, without a lot of competition from other websites, as well as having a lot of advertiser competition.

4 Make Your Articles Unique

Associated Content wants unique articles that aren't already all over the Internet. And since pretty much everything has already been written a thousand times (put in any random keyword into Google, and it's likely you'll get thousands, or even millions of search results) You have to come up with something somewhat different and unique on almost any topic you decide to write about if you want to receive upfront payments, and get a lot of views. This can take a lot of thought, but it's worth the extra effort.

5 Hot Topics

Write what's popular. Now I know that some people can write original, unique articles on popular topics, but I'm not one of them. I only added this in this article because I know it's true, and can get you thousands of PVs on a single article in a short period of time if you have the knack for this sort of thing. Good luck to you on that.

6 Study Successful ACers

Study the big boys and girls. It's easy to figure out who makes money on Associated Content, at least in page views. It's right up there on their profile for the whole world to see. If someone has millions of page views, or they're in the hundreds of thousands and they've only been here for 9 months, they have to be doing something right.

The lower the number of articles, compared to the shortest amount of time, with the highest number of page views are the people you want to take a good look at. Certainly don't copy their topics or content. If you take a look at the top earners, they're all doing their own thing. You'll notice there is consistent good writing, along with subjects and topics that are searchable by a large number of people.

If you look at Saul Relative, you'll see he can take a popular topic, research it thoroughly, an put his own unique view into everything that he writes. He is consistently good in everything he writes. Come up with your own method of finding article topics that you know about, or that you at least have a strong interest in so that you can do the necessary research and effort into making great articles that a lot of people want to read.

I love these articles. I gain insight every time I read one of them. I gotta say though, I am yet to learn any real SEO techniques that are worth their weight. There is so much activity on the internet now that every word that you can imagine is searched thousands of time a day. I just figure I'll use keywords that fit my article and go about my little way. But everyone keeps talking about these SEO techniques.

I agree this is a helpful article. I have also found that unpopular but niche type articles can really drive page views.
