7 Best IPhone Games for Free

Budget IPhone Games to Keep You Entertained

Erik Wesley
The Apple iPhone App Store is celebrating its one year anniversary of draining bank accounts and providing both the best and worst of content for your iPhone, and in honor of this momentous occasion we decided to give readers a "best of" series of iPhone apps and games.

This installment provides you with the 7 best iPhone games available on the App Store for free.

Owning an iPhone is expensive. However, when it comes to filling your iPhone with games and apps you don't have to break the bank. There are plenty of free original games available on the Apple App Store. Also, iPhone owners can often find free versions of the more expensive games that will give you the same experience for less.

Check out these 7 free and original iPhone games:

Best iPhone Games For Free - 7) Trace
What Trace lacks in graphics (and trust us, it lacks in graphics), it delivers in gameplay. The objective in Trace is for the user to draw a path to allow your character to make it to an exit while avoiding traps, enemies, and certain death. This simple concept makes for surprising challenges and fun game mechanics.

Best iPhone Games For Free - 6) Cube Runner
Cube Runner is another free game that doesn't quite deliver graphically, but really makes up for it in gameplay value. Players control a flying ship through an endless and increasingly difficult set of obstacles. This game is incredibly fun, and you are sure to return to it again and again.

Best iPhone Games For Free - 5) Topple
Topple began as a paid game on the App Store, but the release of version 2 of the software allowed the software company to offer their earlier version for free. The fact that Topple is an older version of a popular game does not devalue its ability to entertain. Topple requires players to stack blocks of various sizes and shapes as quickly and as high as possible without allowing the blocks to "topple." Try this one for truly addicting gameplay.

Best iPhone Games For Free - 4) Live Poker
Not interested in all these strange and "video game" style games? Try playing some free poker! Zynga's Live Poker allows iPhone owners to play poker with people across the world. Jump in for just a short game, or settle in for a longer, higher stakes game. Don't worry, there's no real money changing hands: virtual cash only. Be careful, though, as this game requires Internet access to make the most of it.

Best iPhone Games For Free - 3) iMob
IMob is one of a slew of real-time, massively multiplayer role-playing games that have hit the App Store in the past year. In it, players assume the role of a rising mob boss trying to expand his empire, take out his enemies, and increase his investments. Other players throughout the world are your enemies, and will attack you to steal your money. If you use your wiles and wit, though, you might just come out on top.

Like Live Poker, iMob is an online-only game.

Best iPhone Games For Free - 2) TapDefense
The only free tower defense game to make the list, TapDefense uses classic tower defense gameplay to create an engaging and addicting entry to the App Store. Defend your home base against the coming hordes of monsters and enemies by building archer towers, cannons, and magic towers, among others. This game will last players a very long time.

Best iPhone Games For Free - 1) Tap Tap Revenge 2
Tap Tap Revenge 2 is the gold standard of music games, and offers such a polished and fun experience that it couldn't be put anywhere but the number one spot on this list of free games. Tap Tap Revenge 2 utilizes gameplay similar to the wildly popular RockBand and Guitar Hero games, and allows gamers to listen to hit music while playing notes to the music.

The gameplay of Tap Tap Revenge 2 is perfectly suited to the iPhone, and is a welcome addition to any app library.

That's a nice list. You need to add Touch Attack FREE+ to the list! My husband just downloaded it for me and I'm having fun just unlocking all the themes and silly sound effects ;)
