7 Cheap Dates and Romantic Getaways

Penny Richards
Who said a date has to be expensive? Sure, a romantic getaway at a fancy Italian restaurant with a glass of $50 wine might be nice, but you don't have to spend a lot of cash to forge those intimate, incredible memories that your date will cherish forever. In this article, we'll show you seven ways to spend time with a loved one without losing your wallet. And while the title says "7 Cheap Dates," think of it more like, "7 Priceless Dates."

Cheap Date Idea #1: Watch the moon rise.

The clichéd date is watching the sun rise, or set. Show your date your creative, romantic side by inviting him or her out to a nearby hill. Set a blanket out with some dessert and hot chocolate, and watch the moon rise. It's spectacular and beautiful, and will really blow her mind. She'll rave to her friends about how romantic and creative you are! All you have to do is check the lunar calendar to see when the moon is set to make its appearance.

Cheap Date Idea #2: BBQ with friends.

Nothing is funner than a summer cookout with friends. This is where you take a lot of fun pictures and share hilarious stories that help you get to know your date even better. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed, and you get to interact with your date in a social setting.

Cheap Date Idea #3: Stroll through the city.

The rush of people. The exotic smells. The honking cars. The soaring skyscrapers. A walk through the city is exciting. Plan ahead and take your date through downtown, or-if you are both locals-take your date to a neighboring city. Stop off at a local coffee shop to grab a drink and you're set. Nothing is funner than window shopping, people watching, and enjoying a bit of non-natural nature.

Cheap Date Idea #4: Volunteer.

Show your date how thoughtful you are by volunteering together at a food kitchen or an animal shelter. It's unique and lets you both spend time together while giving back to the community. Your date will see your heart, and fall in love all over again!

Cheap Date Idea #5: Go to the symphony.

It's classy, but it isn't just for old people. Many symphonies have sumemr specials where you can score deals on performance tickets. It's fun to dress up and watch a live music performance. Every major city has one, from Vancouver, Canada, to San Diego, California! After the symphony, go out for dessert. The music of the night is beautiful, and maybe it'll put your date in the mood for making your own night music later.

Cheap Date Idea #6: "Just Dessert, Please."

Everyone goes out to eat dinner. Instead, invite your date over to your house for a homecooked meal. It's a chance to show off your culinary skills. After dinner, go out for a high-end dessert. Splurge, because you just saved.

Cheap Date Idea #7: Go on a wine tour.

Sip some wine together and fall in love with all the different wines at your local winery. Winery tours are free and let you sample all sorts of exotic drinks while learning about the wine making process and what is unique about your local area!
