1) Using layaway ahead of time to get the gifts that you know you are going to buy can assure that the gift will not be out of stock when you go to purchase it. You also are able to make little payments until it is time to get the gift out of layaway. Also if an item goes on sale between the time you put it in layaway and the time you pick it up, the store will deduct the money of the sale price from your total price.
2) Many times gifts that you have bought go on sale sometimes by 50% the day after Christmas. One way to take advantage of the after Christmas sales is to buy a few inexpensive Christmas gifts that will not go on sale. Then purchase gift cards. This way your family will have the joy of opening gifts on Christmas but they will also have a gift card to use to get what they want and maybe save big with the after Christmas sales. This is a Christmas Shopping tip that I use with my older children, since buying what they like is not the easiest thing to do.
3) Some people dread fighting the crowds in stores to find gifts just to find out the store is out of what you went after. One way to avoid the hustle and bustle of the stores is to do your Christmas shopping online. The online stores have guaranteed shipping dates that let you know exactly when the item will be shipped so you can be sure it will arrive in time. Many stores such as eBay and Buy.com also offer free shipping on many products. You are also able to ship the gift directly to the recipient and most stores offer gift wrapping and will attach a gift card.
4) Find some cheap gifts that will work for a man or a woman buy a few extras and wrap them. Put sticky notes on them and keep them on hand. They come in handy if someone unexpected gives you a gift and you don't want the embarrassment of not having something on hand to give them. These gifts also come in handy for unexpected guests that show up during the holidays that you forgot to buy a gift for.
5) Shop at stores in off peak hours such as, early in the morning or right before the store closes. This way the crowds will be thinned out.
6) Save your receipts in case an item needs to be taken back or if it goes on sale after purchasing some stores will refund the difference.
7) Take a list with you and stick to a budget. Make sure to look for sales. Store B may have that Wii the kids want cheaper than store A.
These Christmas shopping tips will make shopping for those special gifts much easier and a more enjoyable experience.
