Of course kids can build a truck or a tree, a house or a helicopter or a pool or a penguin with Lego's. Lego sets provide a variety of colors and shapes for creating so the only limitation is a stunted imagination.
Often kids build super creations with Lego's, enjoy them for a while and take them apart to build another day. When some of my kid's or student's have built something that was just too hard to take apart, I've helped them say goodbye by taking a photo of them with their Lego masterpiece.
After accumulating several sets of Lego's at our house, we started using our Lego's to craft some practical items that we wanted to organize or decorate our home. Of course if you needed something to be permanent, you could use glue but we've built these Lego projects without any. At anytime we could completely change or disassemble any of these objects.
Shortly after a remodel in our kid's bathroom, we found we needed a new toothbrush holder. I challenged my son to build one and everyone was pleased with the results. This was our first "practical" and at least temporarily "permanent" Lego's project. The idea became addictive and the inspirations continued to come.
Lego's Toothbrush holder
Use divider walls inside of the Lego's toothbrush holder to separate toothbrushes.
Lego's Tissue box cover
This is a fun Lego's project and no one will ever have to ask again "where are the tissues?"
Lego's Pencil/Scissors holder
A Lego's pencil and or scissors holder is a perfect accessory for a homework desk.
Lego's Piggy Bank
Build a piggy bank with a jar inside to catch the money just in case it ever gets compromised, the coins won't spill.
Lego's Silly Bandz organizer
This was an idea born of necessity. There were Silly Bandz, Silly Bandz everywhere in my home. Find a way to organize them and keep them in one place I, the Queen of the castle, decreed. The Lego's came out and the Silly Bandz went in. Another problem solved with Lego's and little creativity.
Lego's Cell phone, I Pod or DS holder
Technology should always have a time and a place. Kids can build amazing organizers for their favorite techno gadgets.
Lego's Picture frames
Lego's picture frame boxes are practical and really adorable. You can even stack groups of different sized frames to display together.
