Some of these suggestions may seem like common sense but you would be surprised on just how many people ignore common sense. Some may not think these things make a big difference but it does. Most people know it will make a difference but choose to do, or in some cases not to do, them anyways.
My first suggestion on a healthy habit perhaps entails you quitting a habit. That is the habit of smoking. If you don't smoke then that is great! If you do, now is the time to quit. Smoking seems to be one of those habits that we all know is bad but some choose to do it anyways. It is never too late to quit smoking. Even if you have been smoking for 40 years. Quitting now is better than never quitting. It can drastically reduce your risk to life threatening illnesses.
Eating healthy is another one of those common sense things that most of do not pay much attention too. Eating more fruits and vegetables and staying away from high fat foods will greatly improve your chance of living a long and healthy life. There are so many things out there today that we need to stay away from. A few examples are high fructose corn syrup, aspartame, MSG, and a host of other things. When you have the time I urge you to just do a Google search on the above mentioned things. You may be shocked at what you find out.
In today's busy world most of us do not get as much sleep as we should. Proper sleep is so important to our health and overall well being. When you miss out on much needed sleep it can take you days to catch up. In fact, you may never catch up. Sleep is one thing that needs to be high on your priority list.
Next you need to get moving! Yep, I mean exercise. Most of us hate it. Some of us would rather get a root canal. Exercise is probably one of the best things we can do for ourselves yet probably one of the least things we do. Even just 20 minutes a day will do. I think we can all commit to at least 20 minutes for 3-4 days a week. If not, we should!
Get regular checkups. This is another activity I think gets pushed to the back burner. Getting regular health and dental checkups can greatly improve the longevity of your life. If nothing else, it will create a baseline of what your normal range is for blood pressure, cholesterol, and more.
I am a firm believer in vitamins and herbs. I encourage you to take a multivitamin daily. I personally recommend you buy one from a herb or all natural store. Most of us do not get the daily recommended servings of vitamins and minerals that we need. A good multivitamin will help us get closer to achieving that.
Do things with your friends! No, really! I think keeping up with our friends and doing regular activities with them whether that be going shopping, out to eat, hunting or fishing, is good for us. Someone once said that we all need something to do, someone to love and something to look forward too. I believe this to be true. Having fun and having a good laugh is good for the soul.
When you really stop and think about it all of this is very simple and very doable. We make decisions everyday. We can either choose to better our life or not. Let's all make a commitment to try and do these 7 things for 7 weeks and see what happens! Once we meet that goal then set another goal for 7 weeks. They say it only takes a week to form a new habit! You can do this!
