7 iPhone Features You Absolutely Can't Enjoy Without a Jailbroken iPhone
Functions Non-Jailbroken iPhones Simply Can't Do
Access to other app stores
There are countless apps on Apple's app store, but believe it or not; the iTunes store isn't the only source of iPhone apps. With a Jailbroken iPhone, you'll be able to access two infamous app stores; Cydia and Rock Your Phone. Cydia and Rock app stores are app stores made for the people, by the people and offer apps that Apple won't - or can't - allow.
Full iPhone graphics control
With your non-Jailbroken iPhone, you're able to change the background image of your iPhone's home screen and unlock screen - but that's it and that's all. After Jailbreaking an iPhone you'll be able to "trick out" your iPhone every which way - using apps like WinterBoard and others - to fully customize your iPhone's icons, background images, and even customizing how the iPhone unlock screen functions.
Anytime FaceTime
FaceTime is the video chatting app introduced with the new iPhone 4, but unless your iPhone is Jailbroken your Face "Time" will be very limited. iPhone users that have not decided to jailbreak their iPhones are limited to using their FaceTime app over a Wi-Fi network, but Jailbreaking an iPhone 4 makes FaceTime to function over a 3G connection as well.
Retro gaming
There are lots of gaming apps in the iTunes app store, but if you want to play old school gaming systems like the NES, SNES, GBA, or Sega Genesis, you'll need to have a Jailbroken iPhone. There are countless gaming console emulator apps on underground app sites that you'll never be able to find in the official iTunes app store.
Controlling your iPhone on your computer
Cool Jailbroken iPhone apps like Veency - and others - allow you to have full control of your iPhone on your computer while your iPhone is resting snuggly in your pocket. I mentioned this cool iPhone hack because , well, its cool, but its just a sample of cool accessibility features that non-Jailbroken iPhones won't be able to take advantage of.
Unlimited tethering
Tethering allows iPhone users to share their iPhones internet connection with multiple WiFi devices like laptops, portable gaming systems, iPads, and other cool devices. Apple was smart enough to allow tethering on the iPhone, but in order to enjoy this iPhone feature, you'll have to pay AT&T a monthly fee. Tethering on a jailbroken iPhone isn't free, but the $20 MyWi app found in the Rock app store only charges once for this feature - not monthly.
Free Apps
Pirating iPhone apps is a controversial subject - and something I don't condone - but it's a major reason that ultimate leads iPhone owners to Jailbreaking their iPhones. "Free" app stores are definitely not condoned by Apple on non-Jailbroken iPhones, but allow users to try apps before taking a risk on the traditional iTunes store.
