7 Last Minute Halloween Costume Ideas for Girls

"Hey, Mom, I am supposed to wear a costume to school today." Oh, the wonders of living in a small town where classes still have parties to celebrate Halloween. The only problem was, the bus is coming and the store is 45 miles away. I have been coming up with cheap last minute costume ideas for girls for years. It usually takes just diving into my husband's closet and praying the kids will forgive me when I get their "regular" costume for trick or treating later in the day.

Last Minute Costume Idea for Girls#1: Spa Princess

Use a fluffy robe. Wrap a towel around her hair, then use a mask to simulate the day spa. Be sure the mask won't dry out during the day!

Last Minute Costume Idea for Girls #2: Sheriff

Make a silver star out of tin foil. If you have a cowboy hat, you can quickly change your child into the Wild West's sheriff. This is really cute for a girl.

Last Minute Costume Idea for Girls #3: Sports Hero

Did her older brother play football or baseball? Did she? Drag out the uniform and dress her up. Karate or any other uniform will work as well.

Last Minute Costume Idea for Girls #4: Pirate

Think Johnny Depp and Pirates of the Caribbean. A white shirt, pants tucked into boots, and three scarves: One around the forehead, one around the waist, and one about the neck and your daughter is instantly a pirate.

Last Minute Costume Idea for Girls#5: Good/Wicked Witch

A long black or white robe and make a pointed hat with paper and a stapler. Use makeup to create an interesting facial feature.

Last Minute Costume Idea for Girls #6: Ghost

You can always take an old white sheet and cut out eye holes to make a quick ghost.

Last Minute Costume Idea for Girls #7: Princess or Angel

You can quickly make a crown out of cardboard and tin foil. A wand can be created from the paper towel roll with some fabric and glue. Angel wings can also be created from cardboard.

The main idea for a quick last minute costume is to use what you have on hand. You are only limited by your imagination. Have fun with this and try not to stress too much. Have your daughter dig through her toy box and closet. She may come up with her own great idea for a last minute costume.
