From fine dining, shows, Downtown entertainment to of course gambling this place offers you a bit of everything.

Let's go down the street a little ways and we come to Fitzgeralds Hotel & Casino, another fine old place to rest your weary head in the heart of Fremont Street. Most of those that enjoy the Downtown feel in comparison to the Strip Atmosphere have over the years given high marks to this establishment.
Their Staff is friendly and willing to make your stay with them memorable.
Lovingly nicknamed "The Fitz" this charming Hotel / Casino has many loyal guests who wouldn't think to stay anywhere else. As with all Downtown Locations, this Hotel & Casino really isn't the best for Kids, but then if you are planning on being Downtown you are hardly planning on traveling with kids.
With 638 deluxe Rooms, you should be able to find a comfortable spot there. In-Room Safes are available. If you like Country Western Music give the "Country Tribute Show" a go. 7pm nightly Sunday to Thursday.
Hankering for fine Steak? Give Don B's Steak House inside the Fitz a go.

Let's head to the El Cortez Casino, the next stop on our Tour in Downtown Las Vegas. The El Cortez Hotel & Casino prides itself on old fashioned and traditional charm and friendliness. At an average price of $50.00 a night it is more then affordable. Of course if you are looking for a Downtown Location the El Cortez is easy one of the best choices. This specific Hotel is highly recommended for the older Traveler and will appeal to the mature (over 50) crowd more then to younger people. As with most Hotel & Casinos in Downtown Las Vegas it is not advisable for children. The actual Downtown Las Vegas Area (Fremont Area) is often a bit rougher even so the Major has cleaned the place up quiet a bit in the last few years.
The El Cortez Casino is one of the oldest still standing Hotel & Casinos Downtown and the location can not be beat. For more information make sure to visit:

Do you enjoy Victorian styled establishments? Tired of Fremont Street, but still want to stay in the older Downtown Area? Great lets go over to Main Street and take a visit to the Main Street Station Casino Brewery Hotel.
Close to the Greyhound Bus Station this is often times one of the favorite first choice Hotels for those traveling via Cross Country Bus Route. The Main Street Station Casino Brewery Hotel is part of Boyd Gaming and with this offers the "Gambler" the entire circle of gaming experience. The Rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff is sad to be friendly and the prices are reasonable. Try their Buffet for dinner, I have been told that the food there is delicious. Have the taste for a Microbrew? Try the Micro 7 Brew Pub.

A Mom and Pop sort of atmosphere back on Fremont Street. Now let me be very honest with you here, if you are looking for large spaces and luxury rooms this place will not be for you, but if a friendly atmosphere and a cheap price is what you are looking for then give the Fremont Hotel and Casino a go. When I travel I often have my days planned out shuck full with entertainment and my rooms are often no more then a place to keep my stuff safe and a bed to rest my tired out body. If you are the same sort of traveler that would rather spend a high price on entertainment, quality food then on the room and its extras, then Fremont Hotel and Casino is a good choice for you. Again as always this is not a safe or good location for small children and teenagers will probably be bored to tears, but elderly or those of us who are not looking for excitement in a Hotel at every corner can make it work just fine for them.
With a little over 50 Years of operation I would consider it one of the Grandmere's of Las Vegas and with that should hold a place of honor for those of us who enjoy a bit of history. Tony Roma's, the Paradise Buffet, or the Paradise Café among other choices will keep your tummy full and your mind happy.
Room Rates vary but are more then reasonable. For further information visit them or give them a call at:

Time to visit the Golden Gate, no we are not taken a trip out of Las Vegas, we are going down the Street to another one of Las Vegas old time Downtown Hotel and Casinos. Welcome to Golden Gate Hotel and Casino. Not really too much to say about his particular old timer other then that you have to try their 99cent Shrimp Cocktails. The Rooms are reasonable priced and yes you get what you pay for, but the location is wonderful for Downtown Lovers. The Rooms are old, but comfortable enough. It is one of the oldest Hotels in Las Vegas with having been build in 1906. It is the Grandsire of historic Hotels in Las Vegas. Small as well with only 106 Rooms available, but if you are not looking for large and want to stay in a place where history was made then come and give them a try.
The average Rate is from $45.00 to $75.00 a night so not bad at all. Give them a call and see what they have available.

Last but in this case sadly least is one of the more known old timers of Downtown historical Hotels. The Binion's Gambling Hall and Hotel. I had to mention it for the fact that it is one of the still standing old time hotels, but truthfully I would advise you not to stay there. Where once upon a time friendliness and service was treasured it is better now just to take a look around then to stay there. Average Room Rate is about $49.99 a night and the Rooms are usually not up to standard. Gambling there is fine, the tables have a low end.
Don't take my word for it so. For more information:

I hope you enjoyed my tour of Downtown old timers hotel and casinos in Las Vegas. I would have loved to include some of the other grand old greats, but sadly many are now being torn down and have to make room for the new luxury Hotels on the Strip.
I have mentioned it often and would like to mention it once again as a Mother who lives in Las Vegas.
Downtown Las Vegas, even now that it has been considerably cleaned up, is not a place for kids. Teenagers should not be run around the Fremont Street Experience or anywhere around Downtown Las Vegas in the Fremont and Main Street Area after dark. Stay safe, stay in well populated Areas and stay together. Keep your money on you and don't go down Alleys you don't know and you will enjoy your stay there just fine.
