7 Reasons Why You Need a Website

Dave Ickes
For those of you who don't have a website, you may not realize all the great things that it can do for you. Do you think your business is too small? Are you saying you don't even have a business? Did you attempt to have a website years ago and paid a lot of money with little or no return?

Whatever your previous experience, here are 7 reasons why you need a website

1. Websites Cost Very Little...Sometimes Nothing.

In years gone by, websites use to cost some serious money. The American enterprise system has stepped up with lots of competition. As a result, there are lots of places that charge less than $10 a month; the price of two latte's at Starbucks. There are even some free servers that will house you website. A search on Google or your favorite search engine will reveal many choices. Your internet service provider may even give you a free website; mine does.

2. People Will Look for You Online.

Sooner or later, someone's going to type your name into a search engine. What will they find? People expect you to be online. In today's society, not being online is like not being in the phone book. Whether it's a customer, old friend, schoolmate, potential "date", or employer, people won't find you if you're not online.

3. Websites are Great Advertising

So you're saying to yourself, I don't have a business I don't need to advertise. Not so...everyone needs to advertise something - a service you provide, a product you make at your kitchen table, or even yourself. A website is like a brochure that is easy to distribute and once made never needs to be printed again.

4. A Website is a Worldwide Presence

Once you're on the web, it doesn't matter whether someone is next door or on the other side of the world, they can see your website at no extra cost to you or to them. Try that with a mailing or a phone call. A website lets you send any information, including audio and video, anywhere without extra effort or expense. You can make friends or contacts in places you've never been and will likely never go. You will be a true global presence for no extra expense or effort.

5. Your Website Can Make You Money

There is a lot of money to be made on the web. If you have something to sell or can get something to sell, it's easy to do with a website and credit cards. Doing business online eliminates almost every overhead expense imaginable. Anyone can write something useful like a "How To" article. Once that's done, put it out there with a few ads. Steady flows of income with begin for you. Probably just a trickle, but lots of trickles make a stream.

6. Your Website Can Save You Time

Giving out information takes time. It doesn't matter if you use brochures, the phone, email, or even verbally, time is needed to do these. You can keep in touch with your family and friends by setting up a blog (like a diary). You only need to write it once. If you're a business owner, customers can see your product line without visiting you or talking to you on the phone or personally. The true power of the web - when something is written or created once, it's available endlessly and worldwide.

7. Everyone Else is Doing It

Peer pressure at its finest. If you have a business, I don't think you have a choice. Your competition has a website. Personally, wouldn't it be awesome to tell people you meet to contact me at my website.

What are you waiting for? Start searching for an inexpensive or free place to host your website and get going for a worldwide presence!
