7 Songs Justin Bieber Should Cover and Why

The Girls Will Love Hearing JB Sing These Songs

Sherri Thornhill
If you know a young girl, you probably know a Justin Bieber fan. It seems all the girls have Bieber-Fever! Justin Bieber seems like a decent enough young man to let kids listen to his music. I even know some grown women who think Bieber is, in his words, "swag". Most of us over 30 have enjoyed our youth when one singer or another was the heartthrob of the moment; this is Justin Bieber's moment.

His fans love his music, but I know Justin Bieber plays keyboard and guitar and enjoys singing other people's music sometimes. I thought it would be fun to pick 7 songs that Justin Bieber should cover and explain why! Four of the seven songs are older than Justin Bieber, but I believe they fit his style and would be well received by "Beliebers".

Jessie's Girl

This 1981 hit song by Rick Springfield is in need of a remake! I love the original version, but its 30 years old now and it's time for a fresh young teen heartthrob like Justin Bieber to cover this song. He can choose to play the guitar with it and break it down into an acoustic song, or he can add a little hip-hop spice to it and bring the song to the younger generation.

I Can Dream About You

In 1986 Dan Hartman turned this song into a top 10 hit on radio. I think Bieber's fans would love to hear him crooning this 80s classic. "I can dream about you, if I can't hold you tonight..." Oh this song could make the young girls swoon, as if they don't swoon for Justin already!

She Drives Me Crazy

The Fine Young Cannibals brought this quirky song to the U.S. airwaves in 1988, and it soon became #1 on the radio. I'd like to see Justin Bieber cover this song, but really change up the music behind it to make it fresh.

Black or White

It's never easy to cover a Michael Jackson song, but Justin Bieber's fans would support hearing him pay homage to the "King of Pop" by singing this song about acceptance and equality. Bieber seems like an all-inclusive type of guy, and he has that sweet sounding voice that would fit perfectly with an MJ song.

Hero

In 2001, Enrique Iglesias warmed the hearts of women all over the world with his words, "I can be your hero baby, I can kiss away the pain, I will stand by you forever, you can take my breath away." Can't you just see Justin Bieber's young female fans crying in the audience as he sings this song on stage? Do it Justin, just do it!

I'll Do Anything

Jason Mraz rarely performs this song live, but Justin Bieber should. All you need is Bieber and his acoustic guitar sitting on stage and singing, "If you're looking for a boy with a voice, baby I'm single". This is a cute song and it is age appropriate for Justin Bieber's fans. I think Justin could turn it into a radio hit with the right producer in the studio.

Follow Me

I'm sure Usher won't mind if his protégée covers one of his songs from 2004. Usher is a mentor and friend to Justin Bieber and it seems only appropriate that Justin show his mentor just how much he has grown since the two started collaborating. I think Bieber can relate to these lyrics, "There's more to my life than people could ever know, sometimes I gotta smile, when I don't feel like smiling." I know he is making a lot of money and is the most famous teenager on the planet, but it has to be hard to be "on" all the time.

I hope you like my choices! If you have a favorite song you think Justin Bieber should cover, let me know in the comment box below.

These things would be like combining wrist-slashing and eye-gouging at the same time. Each solely terrible in their own right, but when combined...simply excruciating.

Funny, he's a teenie bopper like the history of heart throbs. I've heard him sing and don't see what the excitement is about but then again the guys I grew up listening to we're much either in the long run - true talent hopefully not just popularity will win.
