Her most recent song to be pushed upon the public is titled "7 Things" and is a complete wreck from both a musical and a lyrical stand point. The narrative of the song is told from the perspective of a girl who is rather angry with her boyfriend, and is listing the "seven things she hates about him", the actual count of reasons given is eight, but lets just ignore that. At first it seems like a plausible (if cheesy) topic for a pop song, this is far from the first song written from the perspective of a spited girl. However the song soon goes downhill. Towards the end of the song she turns from hating him to the "seven things I like about you". Ignoring for a second how lame that turn around is, and the fact that isn't set up at all lyrically or musically, and the fact that once again the writers can't count by listing only six reasons, there is nothing wrong about a song based on the ideas of change or redemption. This however is not the case, and is instead exhibit A in why fifteen year olds shouldn't be writing songs.
The reasons for hating the guy are all rather solid such as the fact that he is vain, insecure, cheating on her, and surrounded by jerks. Her reasons for changing her mind about the guy are then very superficial, such as his "hair [his] eyes and [his] old Levi's". Well their is nothing wrong with liking a guy's hair, there is a problem when that and his laugh are viewed as justifiable reasons to overlook the fact that the guy gives you no respect and is an all around jerk. While this may actually be an accurate representation of the mindset of a fifteen year old girl, somebody more responsible should have been around to at least point out that overlooking somebody character flaws just because he has cute eyes and fashionable jeans is a mistake. Attaching her name to such a poorly though out song isn't going to help her any. As such perhaps even more of the blame for this song should go to Miley's co-writers Antonina Armato and Tim James who are both old enough, that a more logically coherent train of thought should be expected.
Poor lyrics can be overlooked if it is a good song from a musical standpoint, but this is just your typical dime a dozen pop music. Music the doesn't even respect itself enough to avoid breaking rhythm to force a line referencing "texting" in a vain attempt to come across as "cool".
If only the music industry actually respected good though out music instead of concentrating on exploiting their marketable fifteen year olds. Because despite they downright stupidity in this song, it will sell well, and Miley Cyrus will never even realize that she went so wrong.

i like this song
This song is really annoying, and yeah, I noticed the eight things and the six things... stupid writers. I will argue, though, despite the fact that I don't care for Miley, a fourteen-year-old girl CAN known about actual love, depending on the level of her maturity. Cyrus, however, is obviously not one of these people.
