Beat the Monday Morning Blues Tip 1:
Get to bed on time on Sunday night. You spend the weekend staying up late and sleeping in. On Sunday, make it a point to go to bed on your work schedule night. If you do not get enough sleep, the Monday morning blues are going to be hard to avoid.
Beat the Monday Morning Blues Tip 2:
Spend the last few minutes of your Friday by reviewing what you will need to do on Monday. Make a task list so you can walk in on Monday. Once you make the list, you can walk out of your office and forget about work until Monday. When you come back, you have a physical reminder of where you need to start on Monday. It is one of the best ways you can beat the Monday Morning Blues.
Beat the Monday Morning Blues Tip 3:
You can use Sunday evenings to your advantage. If you take a few minutes to straighten up the kitchen, make your lunch, and lay out Monday's clothes, you will avoid the last minute scramble on Monday morning that sets the tone for the entire day. Instead of a mad scramble, you will waltz through the morning race to work and that will beat the Monday morning blues.
Beat the Monday Morning Blues Tip 4:
Have the kids do their homework on Friday. Pack their school bag on Friday evening and stash it so that on Monday morning, you do not have the mad scramble to get your kids out the door. Things are less likely to be lost if they are put away until needed. If the kids wait until the last minute to do their homework or pack their school bag, Monday mornings will start out stressed giving the blues a leg up on the week.
Beat the Monday Morning Blues Tip 5:
Be sure to set your alarm on Sunday night. Many people have the habit of turning off their alarm for the weekend and sleeping late. If you don't check your alarm, you will find yourself running behind all week long.
Beat the Monday Morning Blues Tip 6:
Eat something for breakfast. Even just a piece of fruit or a slice of toast will give your body a jumpstart for the day. The added boost of energy will help you to beat the Monday morning blues.
Beat the Monday Morning Blues Tip 7:
Smile. Smile at your family. Smile at commuters. Smile at everyone. It may hurt at first, but by forcing yourself to smile in spite of the Monday morning blues, you will find people responding and returning a smile. These smiles will naturally boost your mood and the blues will never have a chance to hang around. So smile your way all the way to Tuesday.
Work may be the last place you want to be on Monday, but it is something that must be faced. Prepare and conquer the blues before they bring down your entire week. You will find yourself to be more productive, peaceful, and happier because the Monday morning blues are vanquished.
