It's easy to think about dieting. It's easy to start a diet. But it's not so easy to stick to a diet. Here are 7 tips to help you stick to your diet.

Stick to Your Diet Tip #1: Plan Tomorrow's Meals Today

Before you go to bed, plan out what foods you will eat the next day and when. Play with the calorie count, fat grams, fiber and carbohydrates of different ingredients, and see what foods are more apt to meet your diet goals. Prepare foods in advance that can be easily refrigerated until ready to cook or serve. Being prepared when hunger strikes is half the battle.

Stick to Your Diet Tip #2: Remove Yourself from Temptation

It's wise to remove those diet-busting foods from the refrigerator and cupboards that will only serve to tempt you. But in addition to removing temptation from your home, it's also wise to avoid certain grocery store aisles and restaurants that could sabotaging your diet efforts with delectable sights and smells.

Stick to Your Diet Tip #3: Visualize Yourself Thin and Well

If you've never visualized yourself as a thinner model or a healthier model, it's a good idea to do so. Seeing yourself thin is incentive. You will work toward a goal you can picture in your mind. If you have difficulty visualizing yourself thin, post a picture of a thin model on your refrigerator door--right next to your pre-diet picture. Funny how that seems to motivate.

Stick to Your Diet Tip #4: Join a Support Group

Even if all you do is converse with one other person in your diet journey, it holds you accountable. Plus, that person offers on-going support, encouragement, new food ideas, and sometimes a bit of competition. Being a part of a support group means greater success for most dieters.

Stick to Your Diet Tip #5: Carry Food Options with You

Stick diet-appropriate foods in your purse or car. Sometimes you get delayed, and you're overcome with hunger. The temptation to lay your teeth into anything may be too great to overcome. Having a diet-appropriate snack alternative handy may keep you from falling off the diet wagon.

Stick to Your Diet Tip #6: Modify Your Diet for Family

When the family isn't keen on your diet, dieting is more difficult. But it's not impossible. Rather than modifying your diet to fit your family's preferences, why not do it the other way around? Figure out how you can prepare foods for your family that fit your diet needs--then tweak them a bit to make them more tantalizing for the others. Slather their foods with creamy sauces that you omit from your own. Buy or make desserts that are not your favorites.

Stick to Your Diet Tip #7: Study Menus before Going Out

Eating out while dieting is sometimes a challenge. One idea that can save your diet is to get a hold of the menus for specific restaurants in your area that you visit. If you have a chance to look the menu over before you arrive, you'll know exactly what menu items to avoid and which ones fit your diet plan. If you find nothing on the menu that fits your diet plan, at least you'll know to avoid that restaurant.

Dieting is challenging. But with these 7 diet tips in your arsenal, you can successfully stick to your diet--all the way to your goal.
